So ... let me tell you the class mods and sub-class mods I have enjoyed.
Class mods:
Mystic -- a psionic based class, really fits the theme of this game well
Artificer -- probably the most lore friendly and most fully fleshed out class mod at Nexus
Vanguard -- IMHO the best so-called "spellsword" you can create, it's really what Eldritch Knight wants to be when it grows up
Now BTW this one is a "foreign import" from WoW, but I also enjoy
Demon Hunter -- but I "headcanon" it as really being a "devilhunter"
Subclass mods:
Drakewarden ranger -- c'mon you know you want a dragon companion, and now you can get one, and at least this one isn't so big it can't follow you around
Dragon ascendant monk -- though I ALSO like the Wuxia/Kensei (a katana focused monk), and the Radiant/Sun Soul monk.
Pirate rogue -- a bit homebrew, think swashbuckler plus pistols, parrots, and a chest full of rum
Hexblade warlock -- really cool, a much more melee-focused warlock, gets much more out of pact of the blade plus custom invocations
BTW, I also dig the stormchaser druid, and the storm herald barbarian. Those are really interesting, too. (Never multi'd them together, though.)
Reaction Build, This build used Sword and Shield as a compliment to a Two-Handed Fighter fighting next to it as a team. When it is not on your turn you will attack enemies and defend your team mate while crowd controlling enemies. Yes your turn will be a couple attacks but all reaction attacks are advantaged and sneak attacks. During reaction you do not consume your sneak attack point so an extra sneak attack or two. This build requires placing the playe next to someone to gain most its strength.
Protection Fighting Style
Feat (+ 1 reaction) (Mod)
Feat (Sentinel)
Feat (Piercer) (Extra Feats Mod) (Piecing attack bonuses) - If dex build
Feat (Shield Bash Reaction) (Mod) - if str build
12 points in warlock with 8 points split between bard ranger and druid while making sure to max out a few stats if i remember correctly this build when not fully maxed went from simply a chill like setting to a unholy beast that considered a owl bear as her baby aka headcanon she basically saved the owl bear because she wanted it as a pet
That with the blade cantrips & or blade ward works very well with several multi class options both in base game and from mods.
Among the other mods I run
1: 2024 PHB bard and the dance bard (works amazing when multi classed)
2: The 3.5 port of duskblade (works like eldritch knight and arcane trickster rogue always should have and multi classes extremely well with either of them or wizard.
3: The pathfinder port of Bloodrager (Barbarian/sorcerer hybrid that gets limited spell casting and different effects when raging based on the bloodline it has) (currently the undead, fae, infernal and abyssal bloodlines are in with more on the way).
It multi classes extremely well with paladin, bard, sorcerer or warlock as a face + tank and with the abyssal bloodline is amazing for unarmed combat (gets claws, enlarge and eventually can summon quasits to use as explosives it can chuck)
4: The Divine soul sorcerer (Great for saving throws & utility since level 1 grants 2d4 added on one check per short rest and whenever it gets a new spell/cantrip it can grab either sorcerer ones or cleric ones)
5: Hexblade (also comes with a wider variety of eldritch invocations which is great when multi classed with bard or sorcerer as if you are comfortable with med armor it negates the need to start off with a dip in a third class for heavy armor)
6: There is a mod that adds more cloaks to the game, forget the name off the top of my head but its nice.
7: There are several different mods that allow you to obtain ritual spells.
It makes sense lore wise as well cause those spells are supposed to be something near anyone with the knowledge of them can do, it was finding & learning them that was always the hard part (5e changed the way ritual magic works and restricted them to certain classes for some reason)
I don't know a single GM who likes it...because they asked to little GMs what the game required, and mostly listened to players. It's an even greater mess then 2014 5e ever was...:P
While over all the 2024phb sucks a few classes did get nice things with it.
Bard spell list was expanded, it got dance bard & both expertise and magical secrets were lowered for what levels you get them at.
Monk's unarmed dice also got increased from the start and their arrow deflection ability got changed to where it can also work against melee attacks (making them much better as a melee option)
Assassin rogue also had the way Initiative is handled changed vs enemies that have not yet detected them (meaning if they successfully hide after making an attack they can always guarantee a crit)
For everyone else ya it more or less sucked and for DM's it & the DM's book offer even less help then the 2014 book. (hence why people are continuing to migrate to other systems)

12 Astral Seer pairs well with 8 Mystic.
12 Forceblade with 8 Kith'rak.
12 Void Reaver with 8 Ninja Assassin
12 Aetheric Strider with 8 Arcane or Blood Archer
12 Psionic Warden with 8 Eldritch Arcane Vanguard
It's one of these cases where every one of the subclasses really do play different, and combo with different classes or class mods.
