Act 1 LaeZel missing?
So long story short, I recruited shadowheart and when we landed LaeZel just ran off, so I figured she’s pissed about shadowheart’s comment and no longer my companion. I went about to eradicate the goblin camp and into the under dark.

Went back to the emerald cove to sell my swag and when I walked out the main door, took a path I didn’t take to uncover the fog of war, and I saw 2 dead tieflings (google tells me it’s the 2 that traps her and I’m suppose to rescue her or kill her)

Is getting her in my party (or even seeing her in the story) totally off the tables? Or will I still see her in act 2/3 as just a regular adventurer.

It’s my first crpg game so sorry if this seems like a basic question. Google search only nets me a briefing of the mission, so idk if this is a bug or just me forgetting she exists and she escaped on her own.

I think you can encounter her again talking with the gith dragonrider near waukeens rest. If she isn't in your party (and is still alive) she can end up there.

Not sure if you can recruit her at that point but worth a shot.

Thanks, I’ll check that area out, hopefully she’s there! (I don’t mind not recruiting her, it would just be a shame to miss out on a “main character” just because I was bad at navigating the map.)

Side note:
Is it common for NPCs to just wander off and do their own thing? I do see NPCs walk around a bit in the grove and I’ve done the Nere quest but didn’t felt the urgency of time whilst opening the door.

(Like I said it’s my first crpg, sorry if it’s a stupid question)

I think certain events are "timed" if you will. Not an actual time limit, but if you leave them and progress the main story/ move on they will play out on their own as if time has passed.

Eg what happened to you. Laezel was trapped and wasn't gonna wait there forever. So when you progressed the main story without her, "time passed" and she broke out of the trap herself.

I’ve also found an owl bear egg and it says I can pretend it’s a gith egg in her backstory mission. Am I locked out of that too?

That’s wonderful, it would kinda break the immersion if I came back level 20 just to recruit Lazel in the cage.

I’m glad it isn’t strictly time based but rather progression “time” based. Coz I’ll be damned, I’m ransacking every village leaving no stone unturned to sell the cups, forks, rags and rotten garbage for a few extra coins.

Spoilers ahead

Idk if it still happens now if it was changed in a patch, but if you bypassed the goblin camp entirely and moved on to the
mountain pass area "time would pass" and the grove would be left to it's fate at the hands of the goblins. Time would also pass on all the other sidequests, resolving them. Interesting this doesn't happen when you travel to the underdark area.

So yeah if u want to do all the stuff, do what you wanna do in the first area and the underdark before you do the mountain pass. Once you hit the cursed lands the pass is also locked off.

If you want to see all the sights, I recommend going Grovelands > Underdark, both bits of it > head back to grovelands and go to the mountain pass, do that area > Then do the cursed lands

It's a little complex, honestly i think they rely on you doing multiple runs to really see everything.

Currently I’ve played in this sequence:

clear empty village with windmill (spiders below) -> Save grove via eradicating goblin camp -> underdark (both dreugars and mushroom men) -> back to surface to clear cliff side chapel -> owlbear and dog companion side quest

Now I’m headed near the gnolls, to hunt the devil Wyll is pissed at.

I assume the swamp tea house wouldn’t be time sensitive?

Again, thanks for taking time to help explain!

Np. Currently you're all good, I'll try not to spoil too much but basically
make sure you've done all you wanna do in the first big area and the underdark before going into the pass. It'll give you a vague popup when you try to enter the pass, you'll know it when you see it.

If you hear stuff about the "shadow curse" and going into that region, hold off on that until you've done the pass. The "Shadow curse" area is also pretty obvious.

Cliff side chapel, you mean rosymorn monastery? That is in mountain pass, and going there progresses stuff.
Saber Mar 7, 2024 @ 8:08pm
But you can do all the sidequests in the grovelands and
underdark in any order, the don't interfere with each other.

I was referring to the dank crypt! I didn’t realize at the time I could pick locks (I was a rogue *facepalm*) and passed up coz “oh door lock, must not be available”

Perfect! I think I’m almost done bar the tea house, gnoll area then straight through to the mountain pass
