(solution found)Problems with saves! Version - Deprecated version - Help
Hey, guys, everybody. Problems with saves in BG3. I played the game on March 3 last time, yesterday I tried to go in and load my saves.
The game writes that saves are outdated ( version- deprecated version).
That is, during my absence did not come out patches, even hotfixes, what outdated version can we talk about? Checked the game files, the game deleted completely, disable cloud saves, disable cross-platform saves - it does not help.
Maybe someone has faced this problem and there are effective ways to solve it? I would be very grateful for an answer and help, started to pass the game recently for the second time, and here is such a problem(
(It should be noted that with other saves for other characters such a problem is not , although there are saves almost from the first patch)

I got this same response - I reached back out to confirm if you're supposed to delete the original saves, but I haven't heard back yet. Has anyone successfully used this method?

Update: I performed a Steam backup and then moved the "Story" folder out of the BG3 folder, and followed the steps above. It worked! My savegame is alive again!

It really works! Thank you!
Yes but where did you put the folder and did you ever put the files back where the belong?

Only solution I can think of is installing an older version of BG3 from before the issue started.

I have had to do it on a few different games to fix saves.

If all your save files were on Steam Cloud it will download them all again, and you don't really need your old files anymore. If only some of your save files were on Steam cloud, you'll have to manually move the ones that are missing back to the original folder. You could move them all back and just let it skip any duplicates.

Thanks! Have you used this method for "corrupt" BG3-saves or just other games? If there's something wrong with the save file itself in this case (since downloading the "backup" from Steam cloud solved the problem for some), I don't know if an earlier version of the game will make it work?

The problem started for me after hotfix 21 was released but before I installed it. Earlier during patch 6 it worked fine.

I'll try a clean patch 6 install tonight, thanks for the suggestion and link.

So I followed this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/17mlbxv/guide_how_to_roll_back_bg3_on_steam_to_prepatch_4/

But with ManifestID for patch 6 instead, and in-game it says v 4.1.1.4763283 now which is patch #6. The save still isn't working though.

I got another reply from Larian when asking about this option: "Your save should be able to get restored once the issue has been fixed. Just keep an eye out for the latest post with the most recent hotfix to see if your issue has been addressed. Once this happens, your save should go back to normal."

But I'm not really buying it. If the save isn't working in patch 6 (which is where I started it), I don't know how they would fix it in a future hotfix.

I deleted the save files in the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story' and then the problem gone.
The premise is that you have Steam Cloud Save enabled and remember to back it up before deleting save files.

One of my honor mode save faces the exact same issue, graying out and showing "deprecated version". I suspect it is caused by me turning off my PC when the game autosaves before exit. I managed to fix it with the following steps:

1. Turn off Steam Cloud Save
2. Backup everything under Under C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
3. Delete C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3
4. Restart the game (and accept the Terms of Use and complete the gamma settings)
5. Turn off the game and paste the previously backuped saves and agree to overwrite any conflict files.
6. Start the game and all Honor mode saves came back. (Also noticed some random old quick saves files from other battles didn't come back.)
7. Re-enable Steam Cloud Save again.

"If you have steam cloud sync activated, please turn it off, the locate your save files in the 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story', and save them in another folder where you can find them easily.

Proceed to launch Baldur's Gate 3, and it should act like it's your first time opening the game. Close the game, and re-enable the steam cloud and then open the game again and let the steam cloud saves load again."

Saved 36h of my life! Thank you so much.

Didn't work for me. In fact, now NONE of my saves work, at all.
