There was just an update so there could be a chance it might not work, but I feel like that mod it would work atm.
The ability wheels needed more work, but it wasn't really part of EA. They got no community feedback on it.
The most is has going for it is RB/R1 starts on the end with the spells and class abilities if not customized. LB/L1 starts on the end with the items if not customized. A good part of the standard abilities have controller assignments and don't need the wheels.
Still, going Illithid changes the defaults of some of the standard abilities to Illithid abilities which have long/short-rest requirements, which means the player has to scroll through the wheels (from either end) to get to the non-Illithid abilities in the middle that all characters have if they use up or want to avoid using up an Illithid ability between rests.
Still, I just can't game for long on M/K without hand pain. Controller is my only option for games that get a strong grip on my attention.
FFXIV is a game that does controller support for multiple abilities very well, and it does it without relying on clunky action wheels.
This is my biggest complaint with modern games. While Larian has been pretty good about this subject in the past (D:OS was designed for PC specifically, then they went back and added pad support), most studios design the game on console, for console, with console UI in mind, then port to PC and leave the player to "fix" the problem.
Consoles limit PC development, and have for a long time now.
