Modding has ruined so many games for me

I don't use 3rd party mods. Of the people I know who have the worst problems with security scares and constant wierd behaviour from thier PCs, I standout see the worst and most from PC gamers who casually use every mod they can lay their hands on. Most of these are not overclockers, and their problems usually appear to be software. Because modders don't necessarily have any real reputational skin in the game this means that a bad actor is free to act bad without worry of consequences significant to them. While you can trust mods if you choose, mostly - you shouldn't. It only takes just 1 malicious piece of software to wreak almost limitless havok. The 99 good prices of software now count for little.

I'm tired of seeing games get lazy and not improved the way they should because they've left it to the modders. Stunner have it looks like that was always their plan.

Personally I applaud the makers of BG3 for not wasting their customers money on catering for content (unofficial mods,) that is effectively not available to many of the customers on terms those customers agreed to. Money that always be invested elsewhere into the game.

Oh my, I imagine if we had Devs and Modders working somewhat closely together. You know, like with BG3. But I guess that would require you actually watch the video you linked and not just read the title. Also wtf do you mean security scare. Ever heard of official modding sites like Nexus ? Apparently not, so protip: If its some obscure site with a bunch of flashing hyperlinks on screen, probably a scam.

Most mods are garbage and they only pave the way for the inevitable sexualization of the game. Look at Skyrim. Hell, these nerds mod sexual content into 2D pixelated retro games.

Yeah and? You can just ignore those mods and use the ones you like. Skyrim and Fallout have a ♥♥♥♥ tonne of great mods with no sexualization

OP, you're drumming the door that's wide open. Mods ruin games for you? Don't install mods. Problem solved. Let those who enjoy creating mods and playing with mods have their sweet time with it. You have no obligation to participate.

That's why I use Nexus, which won't host anything without scanning and screening it for viruses and malware first.

Now look - nobody can stop the lazy mod autthors who write piss-poor mods that won't uninstall properly, or leave their stuff up abandonware after it breaks, or don't test the problems it's creating in the game - I'm not saying there still isn't busted & broken crap there, but that's why I read the Bug Reports and Forums to get a heads up on it first,

Even in the worst case scenario, the most poorly written crap can be excised with fire. I hate to do it, but we do what we must.

Since you've recently emerged from your coma, allow me to help out.

Larian already has a modding area at their forums and their Discord. It's there to let modders communicate with each other and even community reps. They can do that, as long as it doesn't involve death threats.

However, they don't officially support mods (that doesn't mean they don't want you modding your game now, but the OFFICIAL support will come later, it's just that modders and mod users should realistically know their stuff might break after a patch and need to be updated).

I know there's no official support. I mod at my own risk. And the weird thing, if it wasn't for this piece of ♥♥♥♥ called "BG3 Mod Fixer," which I'm finding hard to excise with fire, I wouldn't be having any problems at all.

C'mon now, there IS other stuff at Nexus besides BG3 Sex Framework, Everybody Nude Mod, and the 200 mods for bigger boobas, butts, and genitals, shaved, or not.

Oh, and Thomas the Tank Engine mod. That's special, too. I really dig the one that lets you summon Santa Claus. Or use a Glock pistol. Things that make no sense - well, at least they're fun to laugh & look at. I think it's part of the charm.

Imagine a world where people didn't form their opinion from a YouTuber using two screenshots from Twitter to then drag out a non-existent thing for 15 minutes so he can fit as much ad content in there so he can make money off people who like to be told what to believe instead of doing the 5 seconds of basic elementary school level research to discover this entire video is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Like you could just join the Larian discord, read the modding channels there, and also join the discords of various mod makers to discover that this YouTuber is making ♥♥♥♥ up for views. Takes like 5 to 10 minutes max. Quicker than watching this guys video.
