Kill Myconids and Mindflayer? (SPOILER)
After completing the quests in Underdark, if I kill Myconids and the mindflayer and hobgoblin, will it effect the later gameplay? I want that xp and I want those abominations to cease to exist.

Yes, that choice will affect the state of the game later on.

Firstly, super racist. And secondly, yes it will affect the later game.

I played an extinction run where everyone died (and the final fight with one "ally" was rough for me in Explorer). I did it to see if the devs' claim of being a murderous lunatic and still complete the game was true.

It is true. It is also tedious and boring as all heck by the end of the game.

If you want to roleplay a xenophobe, go right ahead, but there are consequences for having such intolerant roleplay in BG3.

EDIT: One person survived because I wasn't aware of the requirements for that character's death. Not ever trying again because I can't kill Scratch a second time. Just can't.

C'mon now, Omeluum is one of the good ones. On the other hand, Emperor is one of the evil as f**k ones, he's just good at hiding it from the player.

As for killing all the Myconids - OK, fine, I did kill one because he was, well, bad, and Glutty, but the rest? Are you some kind of mycophobe? Shrooms can take you on awesome trips (LOL). Leave those nice mushroom people alone.

I did once accidentally aggro the whole freaking colony, and boy was I happy I had F5'd a few minutes earlier.

My first play through I killed the myconids because I thought I was supposed to. Like everything in this game in the long story it makes no difference really. Act 3 plays out fine just a little different.

This is my 4th play through and I never realized until now that there was a boat fight with the duergars. That was a nice surprise.

Doesn't he eat brains too? I can't remember where he says he gets them. I use the space bar so much now my memory is not refreshed.

The real problem with killing the myconids is the fight can get fairly large and draw in too important traders.

So, as long as you're aware of the source of your problems ... now I hit the spacebar as much as anybody else when I've seen an uninteresting cutscene for the 4th time ... but if you're constantly doing it to skip through dialogue ....

But no, he doesn't eat brains (unlike Emperor) and he's even trying to convince others to go vegan. OK, maybe not vegan, but eat stuff other than brains.

And he's unlike Emperor in another key way. Inside the Iron Throne, he tells you to rescue Duke Ravengard first, as he's not as important. ... Selflessness. Definitely NOT an Emperor trait.

I couldn't play the game with out the space bar. My fights take very long and cut scenes and dialongs are on speed roll.

Vegan, eh? ... haha ... her must be one of those fungi free vegans ...

The iron throne is less tedious if he is not there.

Yeah. I was joking. Apparently, he still eats brains, but only, as the Wiki puts it, "from the sadistic and dangerous creatures of the Underdark." Bulettes? Minotaurs? Dunno, not specified. But he's trying to FIND a brain free diet for his people. And convince others of his kind to stop eating humanoids.
