ETA: sometimes I will choose half-elf for the free light armor and shield.
But made a SIndarin Drow, Eilistraee Cleric.
playing up to the 'good drow' aspect but not overly stereotypically so. picking Drow speechoptions when possible and the Sindarin-choices specifically when the option is there, since it fits, and my character would feel a bit selfconscious about 'they expect me to be like stereotype drow'. Which has so far be rather fun.
High Elf, Wild Magic Sorceress. Because it feels right.
It's more fun to make ridiculous looking characters as a joke.
Now playing a gith, it's so much fun! The blind faith in gith legacy and order angle is pretty cool, and I love the BFF vibe with Lae'zel. I'm looking forward to doing the relevant quests with two giths in the party.
Another one I'd love to try is tiefling, just to see what happens with other tielfing characters and stories.
I think it's great how different the story becomes based on your race and background. Ofc the key points are the same but a lot of interactions are customised which I think adds a lot of flavour to the game.
For sheer RP purposes, anything goes of course.
for looks (not specifically sexual), dragonborn, orc, dwarf all have artwork that I appreciate a lot. I don't like the way the gnomes look, but its just an opinion, and while the elves are well done, they are not my thing. Tief are well done but I don't care for them generally.
for max/min it depends so much on the build. Some races are just bad, like dragonborn, but 3/4 of them have merits for one build or another.
my favorite overall across the board, then is a half high elf brass dragon sorcerer charlatan with friends as the racial spell. This is "the one" that I played a RP version of the game (rather than a know what's coming focused trip through).
you get natural talkative (high cha, brass dragon nature are chatty) person who is not afraid to charm her way through any conversation and can back it up with fire if being nice fails. Starts with 18 AC (shield, dragon sorc perk, 16 dex) and sleep (upcasted, it keeps on giving until pretty late mid game) and will wipe the floor with everyone using little more than scorching ray starting in act 2. Its one of the few times I felt the build options and playstyle matched up perfectly.
Tiefling (forget which type) Sorcerer Stormy thing/Cleric Tempest
Duergar Barbarian, that one I left at the prologue until I feel like playing again.
Eledahn the Bard lives on in BG3!
Elves and Drow. Advantage vs. Charmed and Immune to magical Sleep. Darkvision and Superior Darkvision.
Open Hand Monk, Vengeance Paladin, Evocation Wizard, Thief Ftr\Rogue (Ftr8 - Rogue4).
Second was a Duergar Tempest cleric called Exodus (for obvious reasons - see above).
Then came Leviticus (yeah, you know why), a Deep Gnome wizard.
I don't have any religious leanings, I just like the names.......
Later on I played several versions of monks (mostly thief 4 monk 8) with all sorts of races.
Never played a bard (never liked the class) or paladin (don't like the idea of falling, or the hoops you jump through to avoid it). Never played a warlock either (too much of what they do is eldritch blast, endlessly). Seldom played, barbarian, druid.
In the end, I finished the game wth some, but I'm taken only by seldarine drows.
I'm roleplaying a clan of apostates. XD
Uttu, light cleric of Elistraee, scion of House BIliku and first generation Seldarine (she escaped her noble house after seeing the Light).
Dumuzi, gloomstalker ranger, and stable boy of house Biliku (he escaped with Uttu because they were madly in love with each other).
Drum roll for the sons and daughter:
- Celyum, Spore Druid, archdruid to be
- Pan, Lore Bard who escaped to the surface because he couldn’t follow his mother in her faith (male cleric of Eilistraee are a big no no for first generation Seldarine).
- Bercilak, fae warlock, third son and the least loved, who found peace and self-realization in service of a militant nymph of the court of Sarula Iliene (often tasked with mindflayer extermination).
- Nuse, evoker: the child most cherished and loved, who escaped to the surface because she didn’t want to follow their mother in her religious practices. The Simbul is what she aspires to be.
Currently during a Wood Elf where I multiclass into every class for the achievement.
Next run going to do my first Durge play as a Lolth-sworn Drow Great Old One Warlock.
I've also had ideas for a Tiefling Cleric of Selune, though not sure which subrace or subclass just yet. Another idea was Seldarine Drow Cleric of Eilistraee multiclassed with College of Swords Bard - which I'm sure someone has done before but I want to do it too, damn it.
I've also thought about a generic Half-Orc Barbarian.
Other classes I'm interest in trying are Gloomstalker Ranger, Assassin Rogue, Thief Rogue, Necromancer Wizard, Eldritch Knight, and a Paladin Oathbreaker.
I do want to make a class as one of the smaller races and might even do a Githyanki Cleric of Vlaakith just to experience that at some point.
First playthrough i looked up "Best class" that was paladin apparently.
So first Playthrough was Tiefling Paladin.
Then i wanted to see Barbarian dialogue options and also wanted a good race.. so i googled "Which race has the most dialogue reactions" Thus the second playthrough was Drow barbarian.
3rd playthrough was my First Tactician run and here i wanted to play Bard and have dual cross bows. Thus Half elf Bard.
4th has been Fighter.
5th is going to be rogue when i start it.
