Geralt of Shire
Out of curiousity i was clicking on a halfling customisation options and made this:

No idea if i want to go further then that but the idea is hilarious. What kind of class/subclass would fit dnd halfling version of Geralt? Gotta be something with magic but fighty. I was thinking mb pact of the blade warlock or ranger?

I would say Fighter/Sorcerer

Fighter > Battlemaster with a dip into Sorcerer for Forcebolt I think.
I think I saw a Geralt in BG3 build somewhere else, Human not Halfling but differences will be minimal.

Interesting suggestions. Why not fighter/wizard or eldritch kniht? And how big of a dip?

Melee ranger with a dip into sorcery would probaby be the best fit for Geralt, lore wise.

Character/Lore flavour/Roleplay reasons
Fighter/Wizard > Wizard is too much of a scholarly approach to magic for a Geralt / Witcher.
Sorcerer magic being innate, or ancestral, is closer and you get fewer spells to work with which is also more inline with Witchers vs mages in Witcher-lore.

Eldritch Knight > Given how Geralt (book lore) tends to interact with any sort of knight, just no :-) Mechanics wise it could work but battlemaster suits Geralt's swordslinging prowess more I think,

What the stat should look like? I assume you want high strength, decent dex and con, great weapon fighting. That leaves little for the mental stats, at best i can get 10 int, 10 wis, 12 cha. Background probably soldier? But getting arcana proficieny from Scholar on a witcher seems fitting.

I assume i will be mostly using sorceror spell slots for MM or Shield. So high charisma isnt necessary. Still, dumping Cha for Geralt would feel wrong cause he was good with the ladies.

Depends on how you imagine and want to play Geralt. I have nothing to add to Lani's lore idea of Geralt.

If it was not for the matter of deity and such I would go with Ranger/Cleric as it fits the combat style of the Witcher perfectly based only on spells and synergies. Thought Figher/Cleric would work too - but then again: lorewise it is more of a mismatch than Fighter/Sorcerer.

A hunter or gloomstalker seems like the obvious choice.
Ranger either way.

Ah. Game Geralt, not Book Geralt then.

Watched all of them, apart from the warlock build (which IMO does not fit at all) - it felt like people making the videos did not played the game longer then 5 minutes. Suggesting to use LONGSWORD with DUELING without a shield. Its a versatile weapon, it will not benifit from dueling when used alone - it will be a two hander.

One guy made an interesting remark though - witcher magic is TRAINED, its not an inherit talent. So that rules out sorceror. Most fitting choice would be a wizard dip on a battlemaster fighter. How dip - i dunno.

Sorcerer isn't entirely ruled out, because because the mutations could qualify.
However I don't see Geralt being a pure caster

Only those who were born with the power of Sources are capable of using magic of chaos, though.
