Report a translation problem
There are too many scripting reasons why it is not possible.
Unless one comes up with a good idea to address them all, it stays as it is.
Could you give one or two examples?
BTW, nothing terrible happens if the 5 outside all die/fail, just makes the final mission for your chosen 6 harder. Also, Owlcat being Owlcat, the scripting for that scene often borked to hell. Sigh. And the other problem is players not knowing this would happen, often never leveling up the 5 who were left behind at camp.
One of the NWN scenarios allowed you to use your entire roster of companions for the final battle. It was a hard fight - you needed them all.

If this is an option, the game by no means told me, much less told me how to do it! And I've had two playthroughs!
It should probably pop up with a bit more fanfare so you can't possibly miss it.
There are so many icons on the screen at once with new ones appearing all the time; eventually, it starts to look like white noise.
...though, to my credit, I did complete two full runs with only four party members at the end. So...
