Do I need to go to mountain pass with Lae'zel?
I traveled into act 2 via the underdark and before I hit the point of no return I want to know if I need to go to the githyanki creche for Lae'zel? If I ignore it will she leave my camp?

Lots of dank loot in the creche, no reason not to do it.

No, you will still be able to return and investigate the creche after entering act 2 territory. Just search the map thoroughly, the way is a bit tricky to find. The point of no return to resolve the creche part will be the final decision on the Nightsong quest. Until then, explore freely.
If you still decide to spare the creche, you'll finally have an option in dialog with Lae'zel giving you a chance to convince her to go forward with the rest of the party

I always do both the UD and the Mountain Pass:

Sweet loot in both places
You will be a higher level when you finally go to the next act (which is helpful)
Really good story stuff happens with Lae'zel in the mountain pass

No. But you do have to pass DC check with Kithric Voss in order to avoid combat with him and his Elite Team.

Or, can bypass it. But you will meet up with him again and it would be good to be in favorable terms with him. :)

This Campaign I left Lae'zel in camp and it went fine.

Good Luck

You can apparently mostly complete the game playing as a party of cats.

So no, you do not need to do anything :)

BG3 doesn't have a 'companion X must be present for this mission' because mission areas aren't really a thing in BG3 -- and because you may have killed / never recruited a specific character.

Nonetheless, if a quest area's principal purpose is for a specific companion, I take that companion with me.

The creche is 10x better with Laez there. Trust me. She is essential for the best creche experience.

honestly I find not having her in the party the best experience.

Then again I always hated 1 dimensional power gamer types that change their entire character with no lore reason to.

Its more fun to prove to the Gith they aren't the master race they think they are without her there to get annoyed that you don't lick the ground she walks on.

besides if the check fails then you get to slaughter a threat to the realms

Creche is a loot and exp bonanza.

I dump her very early game. The story plays out just fine all the way to the end.

I skipped it on accident my first playthrough. It is not mandatory but is full of content, highly recommend.

Returning and skipping not only aggravates lazel but also halsin. That is, if you go on to act 2 and circle back to the creche, halsin gets bent out**. If you go to act 2 without going to creche, lazel gets upset.
the only path that everyone likes is to NOT leave into act 2 from the underdark, but to circle back up to the creche and then proceed to act 2 after that.

If you don't care about one or the other of these NPC, then you can do other ways without worry.

**this is not creche specific. He is angry if you leave act 2 for act 1, regardless of where you go. Creche is considered act 1 .

This is definitely NOT accurate.

For instance, if you do not have Shadowheart along for the final confrontation with Balthazar and freeing the Nightsong (or other), here mission will fail and she will permanently leave your Camp and never return.

There are other examples of story branches based on if the relevant party member is present or not available to be present at an important event.

umm and what does that have to do with Gith ♥♥♥♥♥ being a 1 dimensional powergamer sterotype.

Since you brought her up lets take a look at Shadowheart.

A disciple of Shar who from the outset starts questioning her faith the longer shes with you. Therefore when her major decision comes in her story arc it makes sense how it plays out without your intervention.

Compare that to Laez.

Go to the Creche, stop wasting time the Creche. Oh obviously I was not worthy I must prove myself to my queen. All hail the Queen. Do not listen to the lies.

just shortly after that The queen lied to me kill her all hail this being that I literally came in here to kill because the heritical false god must die. Now he has my full support.

There is no character depth there no actual reason for her 180.

That is power gaming to the max.
