Only way to become full illithid is in the endgame. If you make that choice, I wouldn't worry much about gear, items, spells, weapons. When you go full mindplayer, you will have Tier 3 illithid abilities like mind blast, improved concentrated blast, improved black hole, psychic domination, a tentacle melee attack, and the ability to eat the brains of stunned people.
Once you have those Tier 3 abilities - nothing else much will matter; just use them.
There is a way to get those abilities before the endgame - requires a mod.
Since everyone suggested the same I suppose I could not clearly tell my mind. I wanted to ask how can I be more thematicly ''mindflayerlike'' with a build before becoming full illithid. Like gatherin psiconic spells with spellcaster or so
I should also add, there is an entirely psionically based class mod at Nexus called the Mystic. I've tried it out. It is amazing how complex that custom class is, the author put a LOT of work into it. Essentially, you have psionic abilities that consume Psi Points as your resource.
In the base game, use Mage Hand, Dissonant Whispers, Vicious Mockery, Crown of Madness, Confusion, Phantasmal Killer, Dominate Person, and Telekinesis for the psychic powers. Make sure you get Band of the Mystic Scoundrel and Hat of Arcane Acuity because both of those are gonna be critical for maintaining spell effects like this. Braindrain Gloves will also help a ton, they'll stack Mental Fatigue which makes failing mental saves easier. Other than that, it really is dealer's pick.
