It also doesn't have magical bard instruments with magical abilities or properties, though you do find such things in 5E, and can get from mods. Somebody DID make a mod to add wands in the game, but as the item type doesn't really exist, it's a bit wonky.
Scrolls in this game work exactly like 1-charge wands would work, and usually by the end of the game you are buried in scrolls unless you have been selling them off.
there are several itemization issues with casters... there should be some armored robes for caster/monk early in the game, and there is not, and that doubles down on the 8 dex 20+ str monk which you were gonna do anyway due to TB feat, but it makes that much more attractive. The stupid armor gloves in act 1 don't work with a shield, making them useless. I think they believe a caster is gonna drop mage armor & mirror image every fight, but we don't have that many actions nor spells to do that crap... so you take 1 level of fighter and wear plate with a shield and defense style, or a race that grants armor, or something similar (eg heavy armor cleric).
Personally my sorc is half elf to get a cantrip and a shield, with 16 dex that gives you 18 or so armor at level 1 soon as you grab a shield... the heavies catch and pass you, but for those vulnerable early levels when being hit 1 time is rough, ... they won't hit you, and by act 2 you have more goodies.
wands... are just missing, and its extremely weird to say the least.
So, while you could argue the scrolls in BG3 are doing the work of wands - kinda not really, given that some wands besides these do more than just cast 1 spell.
And usually, even when they do, they usually have (say) 50 charges, and each use of the wand's spells often costs 1 or more charges.
Wand of Secrets, Regens it's charges, can be used to find hidden traps."
:D Wand of wonder, roll the dice, & see what happens. Luckily it's not as potentially campaign ending as the Deck of many things. >_< Plz no... DM just wants to quit the campaign when they start handing DOMTs out.
Anyway, Anyone who has played AD&D remembers save vs Rod/Staff/Wand.
