What am I to make of this Shadowheart romance dialogue?

I've been playing the romance path out from the start, I got her to spare Nightsong, and I've been taking every chance to talk to Shadowheart and show support. The first time I camp in Act 3, I talk to SH and get the option:

"We shared the beginnings of a romance for a while... but we never really pursued it, did we?"

To which she replies:

"I suppose not. Another life, perhaps." (quoting from memory)

I'm confused.

Sounds correct if it was the first time you ever got any romance dialogue with her.

Pretty funny considering the entire game must take place inside, what, 2-3 weeks? Unless there's just like weeks of time that pass between acts. I always thought it was funny people were like, "you should be changin' by now," then all the literature suggests it takes 10 days for it to happen. Uh? I just got infected like 4 hours ago.

How the companions greet the player character is indicative of whether the companion is on a "romance" path. A high affinity after doing something that stops the romance (and it can take just one dialog to do it for some of them) can result in a "we missed our chance" response. Failing to complete all the requirements by the start of Act III also results in the same responses.

(Trivia: A high affinity before initiating/confirming any flirting may cause the "we missed our chance" response erroneously with some characters. This scenario is difficult to achieve. Do not choose that option to avoid locking it in.)

It's the way for you to bail out of the romance (if you want to).

Don't select it unless you want the romance to be over.

No, breaking up is a separate dialogue choice.
It's bug but don't sweat it. I had the same, never picked it, and got the Shadowheart romance ending. So leave it alone and you'll be fine.
