You owe a debt to Elminster?
This is what Withers says any time anyone talks to him (I am in Act 3). The choices are:

Pay him.
Maybe later.
Leave.

No matter what you choose the conversation does not clear next time you talk to him. So far "Maybe later" works but I don't get what this is.

If an arch-mage says you owe him money you pay the man.

Withers says you owe a debt to Elminster? What did you do? I've never seen that.

How much is the debt? By Act 3 I always have more money than I could possibly spend anyway.

Cheese would make sense. Who doesn't want more cheese? Just the other day I ordered more than $200 of cheese online. Yum.

You'll need to get a nice selection of cheese! If its for Elminster give him some Calshite Green

It is $200. I am playing Gale as an origin character, so maybe that has something to do with it. But he tries to hit up everyone on my team. What bothers me is pay or no, it never goes away.

Most of what I bought was Cougar Gold. I'm sure if Elminster tried it, he would like it.

Ah, it totally makes sense this is an Origin Gale thing. Unfortunately, as I've played no Origin character, including Gale, I don't know how to help you with this.
