-- You won't really be a "lone wolf" unless you're willing to murder some companions who're forced on you. Also Withers appears out of aether regardless of what you do
-- You will hit level cap all the same, so I don't get why XP is an issue. And regardless of how many characters you have, XP granted is the same in BG3
If you want to circumvent the second point you'll need a mod that uncaps the level which means you will need also mods that add content after level 12, like 5e spells (up to level 9 spells) and so on. Right now at this very moment - you will also want to not have your game updated to the latest hotfix since as usual that broke a lot of mods and they weren't yet updated.
I never even hinted about the difficulty now, did I? With the game imbalance as it is, HM is walk in the park even solo when you "build it right". But OP's question wasn't about that at all..
Oh, lemme guess, i can't undo it?
Hint for the future:
1. Disable automatic updates on any game you're modding
2. Don't launch the game through steam
3. Keep backups of your configs / user-created files (or use mod managers)
After Act 1 i was lvl 7 and a half.
I'm in a Gauntlet of Shar, lvl 9, multiclassed into 6 Sorcerer, 2 Warlock, 1 Fighter (will go 4 Fighter eventually).
Gear: The Spellsparkler, Darkfire Shortbow, Adamantine Shield, Marksmanship Hat, Thunderskin Cloak, Potent Robe, Daredevil Gloves, Boots of Stormy Clamour, Spineshudder Amulet, Callous Glow Ring and Coruscation Ring.
I'm going for an Eldritch Blast crit build. If you play ranged and with Darkness spell as a defense if pretty much doable (at least for now).
Don't know about mods, but I think the exp is well balanced.
some thoughts:
gith race is very powerful. It lets you play any class with medium armor and greatswords or long swords, which is the least of its perks. It also gives you the jump and misty step spells as abilities, and a powerful ability to have proficiency with every single skill in the game (not all at the same time, so you need to plan your activities around sleep cycles, like today pick locks and tomorrow talk to people). There are other powerful races .. resist fire (tief) with paladin damage spells, or advantage on most save throws (gnomes) and so on. Your race is a big part of such an attempt, so consider carefully what you are getting.
background is also important. While the gith may let you do it all, they still will want some skills active all the time. For example, charlatan is really good, letting you talk your way out of things (deception) & open locks. Pick something that makes a difference in the game; history or religion or stuff like that has near 0 impact while opening locks, talking, sneaking, etc may be things you do all day, every day.
from there, its picking a multiclass build that will actually work. I highly suggest powerful ranged damage and some sort of escape strategy (misty step (can be from item), or warlocks get one free mid game, invisible (many items), or even double/triple dash (rogue)).
If you're using the Unlock Level Curve mod, there's another optional add-on mod from the same page which can be used to alter the XP progression curve - you can't hit 20 without that XP adjuster.
BTW, the 5E spells mod adds additional spells, but still only up to 6th level spells. No higher. They don't exist in the game, or this mod. (Pathfinder 2E spells has 7th and 8th level spells. I can't get them to work, but good luck if you can.)
There are mods that are incompatible with HF 17, BTW, but none of them are level curve or XP adjustment mods. Just FYI. I personally have never frozen the version of my game and I have dozens of mods.
Most of my issues come from the so-called "BG3 Mod Fixer," but, anyhoo. I'd even have my solution if Norbyte would give me a solid.
