Halsin Aggro BS
Doing an honor playthrough and why is it that when I encounter Halsin in the cage and leave the conversation he just aggros and I cant calm him down? Hardly seems fair that trying to delay the conversation until later will permanently aggro him and ruin a playthrough

So, you just walk away from the Imprisoned Druid, thus siding with the Goblins and the Absolute by default? And you expect him to be happy about that.

Your actions. Your consequences.

Yeah, he watched you walk up to goblins torturing him, talk to them, and then walk away as they kept throwing rocks. Why would he like that?

Why would you even want to delay the conversation? You can free him and leave him there until after you've cleared the Goblin Leaders.

I also made the same mistake. Kinda stupid because the other two options is throwing rocks at him or attacking the goblins.

Why have 2 options with the same result? I wanted my charisma character with animal speech talking to him instead of the TAV.

Instead I had an angry bear chase me while I killed all the goblins and eventually tried to knock him out but forgot that ranged attacks won't do that and when he popped out of bear for for the second time he insta died somehow.

Like Demasked said, sometimes you just want another character to do the talking. Something I don't like about Baldurs gate is how only one character can be involved in the conversation, even when the whole party is there. Anyone should be able to talk.

And Halsin shouldn't break out of the cage if you leave the conversation, that should only happen after you choose one of the other two options. And even when he does break out, there should be a way to either apologize or beat him into submission and then explain you aren't hostile.

It's just a poorly scripted event

Kill the goblin priestess and the red goblin, don't kill Minthara, just knock her out (you'll recruit her at a prison in act 2) and only then go talk to Halsin. Don't leave him, attack the goblins and then meet him in the druid grove.

No. It is you ignoring the role play factor of the game and treat it too mechanically. If you do not get it, you may be happier with playing a different game.

1. He's a bear and tells you afterwards he doesn't think straight as a bear
2. He was going to break out regardless
3. He doesn't know you, he just saw someone friendly with goblins walk away

You do know Halsin doesn't have the script and doesn't know you are not working for the Absolute?

It's not. He's literally being attacked. If you refuse to help him he is quite logically assuming you're with the enemy since you're in their base and don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about him being tortured.

Just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ help him. It's that simple.

Bruh have you completely forgotten that he literally unmorphs from being a bear when you take out all his bear HP? That would be the perfect time for Larion to let us speak with him and try to defuse the situation, but nah cuz they somehow didn't think of that

This is the most dumbass response I've gotten on this thread. Role playing and the mechanics of the game go hand-in-hand. The fact that there's no mechanic for me to go "Oh sorry Halsin would you please forgive me and we can team up" or just SOMETHING to unaggro him ruins the role play. For your first encounter with one of your companions, they just really did a bad job of considering that

But the fact that you're give NO option to talk to him after he's knocked out of bear form, to try and tell him you're not a threat and want to team up, is just a very lazy lack of consideration. I was GOING to help him, just not at that moment. That very fight basically sets up the aggro for the entire goblin camp. Maybe I still have stuff to do and goblins to talk to? Maybe I just don't want to have that interaction at that very moment and delay it until later. It's that simple.

it was the "just not in that moment" that pissed him off and made him think you were one of the enemies.
And he also doesn't think straight as a bear, as he himself mentions.
Not sure what's difficult about this.

Y'all want realistic dialogue choices until you get realistic consequences.

Like I've already said, he changes back from being a bear once you take out all his bear health. That would be a good moment to give us a chance to make him non-hostile. I want realistic dialogue because it would be realistic to be able to talk to him there. Not sure what you don't understand about that.
