How to Get to the Harper Hideout

I maybe completely blind but WHERE is the ladder to get to the Harper Hideout? I know it leads down to the basement of Danthelons Dancing Axe shop. Online I found that it says to "take the nearby ladder to the basement". There's literally no ladder inside the shop. The only ladder I see is OUTSIDE the shop and goes to street-level.

What am I missing here? I DO have Jaheira in my party, and there was some brief banter between her and Danthelon.

They give you a key to a locked door. There is a ladder behind it.

Who's "they"?

All the doors, except the one behind Danthelon, are red. I just tried clicking on the door and the guards glared at me (and reputation dropped by -5).

Some of the hatches have a box on top of them, which you have to toss to the side (or break)

Walk in the front door, go to the left, its in that room. With Jaheira you should have received a Rusty Key that will open that door; it should not be red.

Have Jaheira in your party and talk to Danthelon. Quest next step will be engaged.

I'm not sure I can make it more clear. Entharl is NOT giving me a key to the door. There is NO special dialogue with, or without, Jaheira in the party. I do have The High Harper quest in my Journal.

I can only browse his wares or leave.

This quest is borked beyond recognition. Apparently I was supposed to go here, without having no foreknowledge to do so, BEFORE going and clearing out the Temple of Bhaal. I'm guessing... somehow this quest is tied to the order in which you do other things in the city, even though you have no idea you're supposed to THIS first.

There's no hatches to get to the Harper Hideout. The ladder to go down to the Harper Hideout is behind a door, which Enthral provides the key for. I'm NOT getting the key to this door. I can only pick the lock, which ironically, will piss off the guards even though I have the HIGH HARPER Jaheira in my party.

To your left behind you when facing the merchant is a lock door, the key you get is for that door and there’s a hole in the floor in the room beyond the door

Just like any other door your not supposed to enter, enter turn based mode, cast/arrow of darkness at the foot of the door or hatch, do what needs to be done without drawing unwanted attention.

If you have mods installed they might be bugging this quest out.

You can also jump/fly to the hideout from outside the store. But you having done the temple of Bhaal first might mean the encounter that's waiting for you in the hideout might just not happen, because it's Bhaalist-related.

I missed that reading through the first time.
If there's no mods it can't be the quest-item mod issue so it can just be that Orin and her peeps were handled so the quest is invalid atp
