Can't Give Benryn his dowry

So I communicated with his dead wife, discovered the location of the dowry, he asked that I bring it to him if I found it. Well, I found it, but when I click on him he just keeps crying. I took the gold and the ring out of the chest. I tried leaving it in the chest. Same thing. Am i doing something wrong, or is this a bug?

Sounds like the typical mod issue. For mods related issues consult the mods authors.

If the game is acting like you don't have the quest item to turn in and you KNOW it's on your person, it's mods.

The last hotfix changed something about inventory and a ton of instances of items not being turn-in-able (for dozens of quests) started happening.

Turn off your mods and try again. Completely saved my playthrough.

Had the same thing in recent walkthrough. I play without any mods, so that's clearly NOT the mod issue. In hindsight, Benryn ever reacted at MC bringing him the dowry only if I chose the line 'ask his question' while speaking with dead woman. If I tried to inquire her on MC's behalf, he just stayed sobbing later. Sound like a minor bug to me

I thought it was bugged for me, too: I used boxes to get up in the other building where Counsellor Florrick was and Benryn couldn't get down there. Shoving him didn't work either. Then I went back and destroyed the door where he was lying and he ran to Miri immediately.
