Astarion confessed to his "condition" mad early

Just that, morning after my first long rest and he's all "there's something that I should tell you, but it hasn't come up naturally". Literally was just talking to him about how this was all "so new to him". Anyone else dealing with this?

Seriously Astarion, day 2?? And we've spoken twice!!

Also idk if this classifies as "Technical/Game Problems" so I'll just leave it here.

Edit: this isn't a Durge run, I was at lvl 2, hadn't even recruited Withers or dealt with the goblins at the Druid's Grove. I had only found Gale, SH, and Astarion. I basically tripped off the nautiloid, and Astarion told me he's a vamp.

Did you come across a dead boar and inspect it? I am not sure but I think that is one of the things that will trigger the confession.

He never approached me about it in a way that made me not want to immediately stab him, so unfortunately I've never gotten to experience his story. And likely never will. Maybe you exhausted his dialogue options when you met him? That's probably the only difference in our playthroughs - I put him off until later since he didn't really interest me.

I had this dialogue in one of my playthroughs, but I'm not sure what triggers it. He did try to bite me later as if we never spoke about it, which was weird.

Story progression triggers it. A friend of mine didn't even find Astarion until he was getting ready to go to the creche (and only because I told him about Astarion), and he also got an immediate confession.

If I remember correctly. I met the hunter near the hag's hut. He told me Astarion is a vampire. I told Astarion I heard he is a vampire, he said no, next morning he confessed. Obviously he did not bite me in this playthrough.

Never found a bitten animal. Would have been cool to find it.

Hmm maybe it is tied to progress then. I always come across him immediately - not even really sure how someone could miss him with how close he is to where you are dumped out. So maybe that coupled with not really engaging him left him no choice but to do what he did?

I dunno, this time I just sent him away so I didn't have to deal with it at all. Hopefully that's the last I see of him until the other quest he's peripherally involved in.

Yeah, maybe. I completed one or two quests in the grove, picked up Withers and that's about it. I was thinking it might have been related to getting a few points of approval early on since I was playing Dark Urge doing some Dark Urge things. And maybe finding the boar.

lol after 900 hrs and this is the first time it's happened, yes. it made me wonder.

Yeah I've never found it myself :(
I've only found that book about vampires and then I give it to him as a joke in every playthrough and then its all "bleeh I am a vampire please give me a tasty treat"

nope, no dead boar, just got off the nautiloid, grabbed SH, Gale, Astarion, went to do the Ruined Temple, and now Astarion feels guilty for not telling me he's a vampire lol

It's also possible there is no trigger and this dialogue event occurs at random. Long rests seem to pick from a number of possible events (some which have to be unlocked through story progression or NPC disposition) and maybe this one can just come up.

Only other thing I can even think would trigger this early without making sense would be mods - First long rest is *definitely* a bug imho but it could be random I suppose.
The only time I got the confession was when I wasn't long resting enough and about to enter the underdark
