Elixir of Hills Giant dilemma
I find this particular item to be incredibly overpowered, especially on a character with dual stat dependecies like a paladin. Should i be using it? It feels very wrong and cheaty.

People make arguments that its fine cause a character with high natural strength can you use something else (like a bloodlust potion) and be stronger overall but i personally dont buy it. Especially considering how easy it is to stockpile it even without abusing long rest restocks or respecs.

With all that in mind, should i:

1) Stop using it completely.
2) Keep using it, but keep character apropriate strength score of 14 or 16.
3) Embrace the cheese, dump strength to 8 and pump other stats more.

Alternatively, if you know of a mod that can fix it - i would be grateful. Or if you point me to the right direction on how can i edit game files myself without much hassle.

It's broken ..
For any number of reasons , the first for me is
the dump stat...
Gloves of Dex , Potion of Str , Bow that scales from both ... Boom doesnt matter what you started as or what stats ...
Dump Str and put all points into Con ...
That one potion is the same as selecting a Character from character select with 21 Str
and 7 extra points to spend on stats ... would you think that is overpowered .... would you pick anything else ?

It's D&D. Embrace it. Even more, cheese it. Pick up the Tavern Brawler feat, roll with it. Remember that this is built on a tabletop game meant for friends to have fun. Breaking the game is all part of the experience

For me personally, cheesing the game is not fun.

Usually you want those elixir on your fighters, who have already high STR. So EoGHS gives you maybe 1-2 points more for damage or to hit someone, depending if you increased your STR already or not. And you cannot drink other elixirs if you use EoGHS.

I do not think it is OP. Ok, you can exploit it, but this is not really fun. The game is not so difficult that you need to do it.

It is not OP. It is a finite resource and you usually have to choose between that and other useful buffs (such as bloodlust)

the +2 to hit and damage is nice but hardly mindblowing
LArc7thHeaven Jan 31, 2024 @ 1:46am
Not wrong and cheat when WoTC put that in the item codex

It doesn't really do anything meaningful. You get 1 or 2 extra damage per attack at the cost of using up your elixir slot for the day.

Strength is a generally weak stat in the first place. It has almost no related ability checks and is generally the least effective combat stat. It needs the help.
