So, i killed Elminster Aumar before talking to him
And now the plot with Gale and my save are broken. Thank you, Larians, for giving you the opportunity to do something stupid, but this something can break your save. And especially thanks for this opportunity in Honour mode.
I will answer the messages “just don’t do it” right away: this is an RPG and if the developers make something killable, then I, as a player, have every right to try to kill it and developers should foresee that this may happen. Therefore, I blame Larian, not my craving for experimentation

And yes, level 20 Elminster can be easily killed by a paladin, two bards and a level 7 sourcerer. Which, in my opinion, is nonsense and its “level” is just a cosmetic number that was supposed to scare me, but did not cope with its task

I know that, but he no longer appears, which is why Gale’s quest hangs like a dead weight

yeah, that was a choice you made, not a broken save.

The quest will probably just pick up later on in the chain when he meets his god or his cat.

You're right. You as a player have every right to try and kill something if it's killable.
I like to say that hidden in every right is a kernel of obligation. Usually it has to do with abusing said right. In this case it's the obligation to accept the consequences of your choices.
But fear not, you've also exercised your right to underestimate Larian's resilient game design. And this too has consequences.

This is why you should learn what you're doing before playing in Honor mode.

Oh well. It's your job to either deal with the consequences now, or delete your save.

It wouldn't be so offensive if there were consequences other than breaking Gale's quest. At least a dialogue with Gale about the fact that we killed Mystra's chosen one. And so, it’s just that the Larians didn’t foresee something and this something just pointlessly breaks the save, although how can you not foresee the player’s attempt to kill something that is god-like and labeled as a “construction”, while at the same time looking like Gandalf

The devs probably figure that if you'd kill Gandalf, you'd also side with Sauron, and therefore would've killed Gale right away.

Besides, this doesn't really need more consequences.

Sure, but why blame anyone? You killed him, bear the consequences (i.e. not progressing Gale's quest). Or do you mean there are other game-breaking consequences that you cannot work around? Can't progress in Act 2 or sth?

If not, then I see no problem here. You met an old man during your adventures and chose to kill him. Since you attacked him on sight without talking to him, you couldn't have known who it was and would have no reason to worry about what you're missing from an RPG pov (since you can't know he's 'Gale's quest'). Seems fine to me tbh.

If you use your IRL knowledge and choose to *know* Gale's quest depends on him, then why not simply reload and move on?

You're playing Honor mode on your first play through? Bold, but stupid. If you can't handle reaping what you sow don't play Honor mode. Your game isn't broken, you just have to wait longer to progress the quest and have certain parts of his quest locked off.

Please try to read with your eyes. I'm not outraged by the lack of saves, I'm outraged by the fact that the most obvious action breaks the save. And no, it’s obvious that in 1500 hours this is not my first playthrough. It’s just that after so many hours in the game, when you start doing things that should definitely have a bad effect on the plot, but they don’t, you realize how poorly thought out some aspects are.

"consequences" are what affect the plot
“a company that cannot think through the player’s actions” is not the consequences of my actions. I understand if I somehow intentionally tried to break the save, but no, I did what, most likely, thousands of other players did before me

The lvl 20 is partially to sacre you, but the game doesn't have higher then lvl 12 implementation, so yeah...
He should probably have way more HP though ay lvl 20 lol and at least the ability to upcast that should be easy to implement him upcasting.

That said, it's 110% your fault, why would you experiment on honor mode? It's not soft lock but you will almost certainly fail gales quest lol

What is broken? What you are saying is broken, isn't, that's your problem. You can continue playing right? Does the game crash? Does Gale instantly die/explode? You just don't have access to that part of his quest this play through. It can continue later. Have you gotten to act 3? If not how do you know it's broken?
