Hunger of Hadar (Bard)
My Bard is Lvl 11 and I have yet to see Hunger Of Hadar listed. I don't know how to get to Magical Secrets?? Also, where in BG City is there a Vendor that has any health potions for sale?

Hunger of Hadar is warlock spell. You get magical secrets as lore bard at level 6 I believe.

It should have been an option at level 6 for lore bards and 10 for all bards (though it might be kind of wasted at level 10 since there are better options). There's the dwarf alchemist from the underdark and Araj the blood alchemist from Moonrise Towers, both in the lower city. If they're still alive, they should have health potions. Or brew your own if you pick up ingredients.

I have a lorebard. I was able to get it at level 6. Maybe you just overlooked it?

Oooh this makes me want to start a bard character!

Then perhaps mine is not a lore bard? How do I tell if she is a lore bard? How do I maker her a lore bard if not? Which lvl 6 spell (of the 2 I could get now) is the better choice? Thnx

The College of Lore subclass. You would have had to pick between Lore, Valor, and Swords.

College of Valor can use medium armor and shields, College of Swords can use scimitars. College of Lore is more of a pure caster and can use "cutting words"

You should be able to see what you are on your character sheet

the two melee ones are confusing. One of them has a bunch of 'battle master' type tricks, like shooting someone and teleporting to them to chop them up, which is pretty handy.

But this is really important: the college of lore, the caster bard, does NOT GET another attack at level 6. So you are giving up an attack to get little more than access to a small # of additional spells and very minor other perks.

Beehive General/Bonecloaks Apothecary/Stormshore Temple/Devil's Fee all sell health potions; prob some others well, in the Guild, mute guy in the sewers, etc.

College of Swords is about doing damage yourself, College of Valor is about buffing your allies while being tankier

My Bard is College of Valor. Don't suppose I could change that now?

Respec at Withers.

Oh yes, that's right...Withers let's us change class. Wondering now though (after seeing I could multi-class with Wizard and get Arm of Hadar)?? Does Arm of Hadar build into Hunger of Hadar later on? Or better just to respec to Lore?
seeker1 Jan 23, 2024 @ 5:11am
Do what you like. Arms of Hadar and Hunger of Hadar are two different spells. Similar in nature and name. One doesn't really "build" into the other.

hunger of hadar is overrated, i wouldn't worry too much about it tbh. it has really low dmg, and in the encounters where it gets value, there are better alternatives that you can use

I dunno I really liked casting it in a room and then blocking the door with either arcane lock or wall of stone
