Halsin died during the fight at the beach
The fight after you wake up Art Cullagh. There was only one turn left... anyway, I don't really want to do that fight again. What would be the consequences of not lifting the shadow curse and having Halsin dead ?

PS : I am doing a "good" playthrough.

I mean.... Not really anything except some sad dialog about looking back on the cursed land and failing to fix it.

BUT, the fight isn't that bad if you know how to manage it. Fire walls, fire balls, cleric Spirit Guardians and Turn Undead. Warding Rune at the base of the portal helps too. All come together to pretty much trivialize that fight. Hardest part becomes waiting for all the enemy turns. XD

You can also cast darkness or use an arrow of darkness on the portal itself. This makes it impossible for archers and such to shoot it so all of them will be running to it. That might make it a bit easier.

Works every time!

It is rather hard to imagine how to fail that battle. The enemies are conveniently lining up to be killed. I think the Ice Storm scroll, Fireballs and entangling spells made it ridiculous easy. Even without obscuring the target.

Actually, it was quite easy to fail it at a blindrun. Mainly due to the archers (did not think of a darkness spell).

For the record, due to a minimum reload policy, I did finish the game with Halsin dead and the curse not lifted. There are no other consequences

Yes, the quest has no consequence at all. Would have been nice, if you could lift the curse and had then sunny woods for a change. But it has no effect. "It will take years to heal" is just a convenient explanation to not have alternate graphics.
They failed at a day/night cycle, too *sigh*

Well, you will fail three quests (I think that is the count) and lose the related experience. You will not have Halsin as a Companion. A number of NPCs will not be in your Camp. Depending on some other factors, you may lose the Harpers as Allies and almost certainly lose Last Light Inn at some point. Possibly lots of other secondary ramifications as well.

Basically you just lose Halsin as a companion and lose a bit of EXP for not doing the rest of the quest to lift the curse. Nothing else that impacts your playthrough will happen.

I agree with everyone that it's not a hard fight, but on my run Halsin has died 2 x running into my wall of fire after he comes out the portal That's 2 Honor modes that are tarnished now. That spell needs looking at.
