Trouble deciding who to romance, Shadowheart or Karlach?

I had a previous save that I ended up deleting as I finished act II, for IRL reasons I just kind of fell off. I had Shadowheart as my sweetheart and very much enjoyed her as a companion, but I just started this new playthrough and Decided to go as a Sorcadin instead of a fighter, which made me add karlach to my party to give me a bit more oomph. I ended up liking her as much as Shadowheart, and very much cannot decide. Should I finish what I previously started, or leave her for later? Karlach is very tempting because of just how sweet she is, honestly.

EDIT: OH! It would also be good to mention that I decided on having this new run be as the Dark Urge, but a "Resister" against it, instead of an evil bastard. Thats not to say I know what happens past act II, or ANYTHING for the dark urge, for that matter; So please refrain from spoilers? Thanks!

EDITIT: And, another question if you don't mind. Who do you think I should Put in my party, between Karlach and Astarion? Astarion would have better balance, and the party would be identical to my first playthrough (which gives me nostalgia when I think about that??? for some reason???) But Karlach aligns more with the party ideals, and despite Astarion's great character design, I wouldn't mind Karlach over him honestly. Plus, 2 fighter classes oo-rah, you know? (I have Shadowheart and Gale otherwise.)

Actually you should finally decide who you're going to romance (of these two girls) a bit before final resolving 'the grove question', so to say. Shadowheart is much less posessive then Karlach. I had to rewalk a fair bit of the plot, because my MC came up to the celebration point with almost equal approval from both, and while SH was ready to date, Karlach said something like 'we both know who you want to be with' and turned him down.
As for Dark Urge, it has many unique dialog strings, even through sweetheart pieces, but his/her nature doesn't mind enticing others into romance.
Concerning your party set - you said you're going to multiclass MC between Sorcerer and Paladin, adding to him/her Gale and Shadowheart. So IMHO you're going to have 2.5 more-magic companions and 1.5 fighters. In that case I'd definitely taken Karlach to balance, while switching between Shadowheart and Astarion as situation needs

Why not taking Karlach and Astarion with you? That is, should you decide against romancing Shadowheart.

This is so funny, because I'm sitting in my camp waiting for people to respond to this because I know that when I end the day I'm going to have to make that decision between the two. Tonight is the night of the party, after all.
And, Thank you for confirming my gut feeling that Karlach is good for my party, will keep this in the back of my mind

You think so? I'm kind of concerned about removing the cleric, but I AM a paladin, so maybe it could work. Honestly, its more between Karlach and Astarion for me, since I have half my foot in committing to either of them. (while being very confident about wanting to have Gale and Shadowheart.)

I do not know your build nor your oath of your Paladin. Even less how you have built your fellow party members. I imagine your "Sorcadin" is a little like what I have mentioned here

Either way, main point is, aside of party composition balance, that storywise seems a better fit with Gale, Karlach and Astarion like that in party if you like them that much that you cannot decide. Shadowheart you will have plenty of in case where you would romance her.

But then some people want their ex and their current partner in the same party... I do not judge.

Just compositionwise it is still more interchangable depending on what you have in mind for every character.

Just compositionwise it is still more interchangable depending on what you have in mind for every character.

Well, This is great. I really do want both Karlach and Shadowheart In my party, but I most likely will attempt to juggle Astarion in and out for either of them.
Also that guide made me feel like I was making my character horribly (I chose different subclasses for both of them)
