1hp Bug???
Dont think its a bug.. But how many times do you leave just 1hp left on your mobs! Feels like more then enough NOT to be a bug for me! Dose this happen to you guys as well?

are you fighting undead? many of them have an ability called undead fort which sets them to 1 if you "kill" them the first time.

no, it just seams like every fight there is at least 1 guy that ends up with 1hp left. Dont really think its a bug.. just FEELS like it.

Maybe a couple times...? Not many that I can recall, even if we expand it to <=5. I don't know what possible set of circumstances could trigger a bug like that. That is to say: it's not a bug, people just attribute anything that they don't think should happen often to that

it sounds like you're using attacks that knocking enemies unconscious instead of killing them

there are a few attacks that can do that

Probably just probabilities. If you're doing 4-11 damage to an enemy with 5hp, you have a 1 in 8 chance of that enemy being left with 1hp. Fight 8 enemies, and an average of 1 of them will end on 1hp.

I've noticed it once or twice, but at least this game isn't nearly as bad as X-Com 1 & 2 for leaving an enemy at 1 hp just so they can crit you next turn and blast you in half.

Half orcs all have an ability that gives them 1 HP instead of 0 when you drop them (once per long rest). And then undead also have a chance of coming back up with 1hp when you down them too

I just wish they gave them DeathSaves like players get. Those three strike for enemies would do them good. Players are so over powered compared to enemies.

As others have said, there's simple probability and undead fortitude, as well as half-orcs' relentless endurance ability.

In addition to those, there's a fourth-level cleric spell called death ward. When a character under the effect of death ward receives a lethal blow, they will drop to 1 hit point instead of 0--same as the half-orc ability. You have to hit them one more time to finish them off.

Just one more reason to love magic missile!

Death saves are stupid OP, but it helps compensate for how easy it is for some enemies to one shot half your party if you aren't prepared. Just do an area heal, and everyone downed gets right back up with their bonus action. For a sorcerer, that means a quicken spell.

On the other hand, enemies really like trying to finish your characters off when downed.

HAHA, I really thought I was the only one. The number of times I've left 1hp on a mob after my turn are too many to count.

Heh, yeah, I noticed this as well- am keeping score of how often this happens. But, I also feel that with karmic dice turned off, it happens less often (still a lot, but there may or may not be some confirmation bias here, so I am not going to call it too soon)

I think when a character/monster/etc goes below 1hp, they save v death, and if they make it, they stay at 1hp, until the next successful attack against them.
