Stillness of Mind
anyone else annoyed about the Monk's stillness of Mind?

was doing the I don't remember the name like the Mantaray boss fight and was constantly getting charmed and since I'm a monk it was auto using stillness of mind to remove it which wasted my action making the fight take that much longer

anyone else think it should be toggleable or have an " ask" option or something?

I know you don't get charmed or frightened SUPER often but when it happens it feels like I'm fighting the games mechanics rather than overcoming a challenge

It's supposed to be something you can opt to do, or not do as per regular 5e rules.

However, in BG3 it would have been the only ability in the game that would be a reaction that uses an action. It was easier to just make it an auto thing like Uncanny Evasion (which normally would also be a choice) than program some new, special functionality I guess.

I get that but it feels so wrong from a game perspective like some fights and areas just seem to punish you for being a monk because of this, maybe they could implement it as like a clickable thing that’s only available if you’re charmed or frightened but yeah it would be a bit of programming for something not a massive amount of people are going to use and not very often

I don’t see why they don’t just make it a passive immunity. They’ve changed a lot for the game already, and this just makes the game frustrating for anyone playing a monk. I’ve been multiclassing monks after 6th level because of this.

ngl I tend to favour not going past 6 for this reason too. Which is a shame, because evasion is nice (among other things).

Reckless Attack already works like this.
