How to bypass Orin's Legendary Resistance
If you want to lock down Orin and deny her the ability to take any turns do the following:
1) Orin has WIS 16 with no proficiency so her WIS Saving Throws are d20+3. She also has Magic Resistance which makes her initial Saving Throw d20(Adv)+3.
2) Build a caster with at least 23 Spell Save DC.
3) Cast Ottos Irresistible Dance on her. This is not an Incapacitating spell so it does not invoke her Legendary Resistance. You now have 10 turns to dispatch the rest of her groupies.
4) The only way she will fail the Saving throw is with a nat 20.

This also works with Tasha's Hideous Laughter which is a lvl 1 spell.

This also works with Flesh to Stone, she can't move but she can still cast before she petrifies. Flesh to Stone is a CON save, but Orin's CON is 17 with no proficiency so the result is the same. With Flesh to Stone she becomes permanently Petrified in 3 turns.

Posting here to save this technique for later. 👌

I always blasted her with 5x leveled Scorching Rays for the win, but I like your 10 turn approach. Kinda funny too.

You have 10 causal turns, does not mean it will take 10 turns.

You can push her with aura of murder or phalars shriek to the edge and use thunderwave to push her off.

You loose loot.

I always thought Blasting her with Magic Missles, then other character wail on her worked. :)

Bamm-Bamm wins because Larian does not make an AI that plays casting very well.

I have a Spell Save DC of 19, so she should still only have a 25% chance to save. I've reloaded the save I made 4 times and she makes the save every single time.

Unless scrolls don't use the DC of the caster?

1. Scrolls only use the casters DC if they use the same ability as the scroll which is usually INT.
2. 25% chance doesn't translate to a guaranteed 1 success for every 4 attempts. Each attempt is a new 25% chance and has no regard for your previous attempts.

I know how percentages work. I'm just saying, it's a LITTLE BIT FUNNY. That's all.

I mean we have had an epidemic of people making pseudo-intellectual posts about RNG lately so.....

Always check the combat log. It will explain in detail how/why the throw failed or succeeded.

Is your character a multiclass? Multiclassing messes things up for casters. Scrolls use the Spell DC of the last lvl 1 selected. Otherwise all spells, scrolls included use the Spell Save DC of the caster.

She has Magic Resistance which makes her initial Saving Throw d20(Adv)+3 and changes thing. A 23 Spell Save DC washes out the Advantage because neither roll can be higher than 20.
Interestingly, if you use the nobelstalk you can buy from Derryth while playing as Durge to heal up, you get a little cut scene. Idk if it happens if you have slayer (I did not in my last playthrough). I Otto'd her and pulled out displacer and Danse Macabre.

I'm waiting to see if it's different in my current playthrough.

Who's in the cutscene? I've' wondered what that stuff does.
