Watered Down Sex Scenes

I played EA but never triggered romance BUT I am curious if the sex scenes were originally intended to be more raunchy. Its no secret that the scenes are really vanilla and a little meh, what with them usually been awkward kissing followed by fade to black. I wonder if that was always the intention or if Larian received a memo to tune it down. Thoughts?

So the drow twins at Sharess' Caress turn the lights off. Disappointing, but totally expected. "LOL".

Don't get too upset over the guy overlaying the "Bonk! Go to Horny Jail!" stuff over parts of the scene. Probably had to do it to escape youtube's extreme content restrictions. "LOL"

And yes, allow me to note this before some folks go into a priori offended mode - this is a lesbian scene between a female Tav and Minthara.

(Yes, there are other places you can see it without any overlay; no I am not linking to those places on steam.)

You can see the entire scene on sites without overlay or blur. I will not link to those on steam... please note, even when you can see the whole thing un-blurred, the "soft-porn" on late night Cinemax schlock is probably steamier. It really IS tame.

Minthara also has my favorite kissing scene in the game, at least from a dialogue standpoint leading to it - that doesn't come until the very end. Overall she's just the best(if they would fix all her bugs), half the conversations with her as DUrge left me feeling the need to take a cold shower.

It seems to be very focused on the characters doing hand stuff which makes sense as a genitals-neutral animation you could apply to basically any combo of characters.

I will say the sex scenes with the male companions tend to be more... animated. Astarion's, for example, is some straight up twilight fanfic business which puts to shame Lae'Zel / Shadowheart / Karlach's sex scenes.

Yes, like many scenes, it plays in a way where Minthara could be having sex with a male or a female. They are all done that way. Hence, if you're expecting to see a lot of genitalia, displayed or in use, uh, no....

Warning: nudity and sexual content. There is stuff far more steamy and easily accessible on late-night cable TV, though.

Ah, yes, the devs' mythical "ideology". Simultaneously the cause of "sexual deviancy" in the game AND the fact that there's no actual sex in the game (Minthara's scene being the closest it gets, despite also fading to black).

basically a feminist ideological stance to remove (the default options without mods) because she felt guys would always move the boob slider to max and make all the characters look the same. Feminist Ideology is likely also applied to the romance scenes. I don't really care much about those. What I don't like choice taken away to make my RPG characters look the way I want them too whether it's tall, skinny, fat, big this or big that.

I'd like R-rated movies to have more suggestive (if not explicit) sex scenes, and less gratuitous mayhem and violence. But hey. That's the great thing about human beings. We're all different.
