Rogue Class : Whats the point of uncanny dodge since its uses a reaction slot?
For Rogues, Sneak attack is the primary and only source of attack the deals lots of damage to enemies. This uses a reaction slot which is only 1 reaction slot per turn. So whats the point of uncanny dodge? Because if you keep using the reaction slot for sneak attack which im sure 99% of people use it, since its only what a rouge is good with, to deal massive damage, there wont be a reaction slot available per turn to use uncanny dodge.

Am i missing something? And the passive for Uncanny dodge keeps deactivating all the time. Is this a bug?

Sneak Attack doesn't use a Reaction, or it'd have a purple star in the UI.

Yeah as mentioned above Sneak Attack is not a reaction, it's just something that auto-applies for free.

its not free. wtf. If you want to deal the extra damage, thats when it uses the reaction. sure it a free attack but we all want that damage boost.

It does not. You can enable it in the reaction menu in the same way as Divine Smite so you can choose to use it on a specific attack without using the Sneak Attack action if the conditions are met.

So why uncanny dodge is not triggering for Astarian everytime he gets attacked?, If it does not use a reaction slot? where can we see if our reaction slot is used or not?

Unlike in many other video games that implement D&D and similar systems, Sneak Attack is an action in BG3.

Check your action bars for Sneak Attack (melee) and Sneak Attack (ranged).

You only get one Reaction per round. Once you use Uncanny Dodge once, that's it until his turn comes around again and refreshes his actions and Reaction.

Sneak Attack is also used automatically with any eligible attack with an eligible weapon, and you can go into your Reactions menu to modify this behavior to prevent overkill damage on a low HP target. You don't need to use the Sneak Attack button at all.

So a reaction uses a reaction slot? Sorry iof I fail to see the problem here.

The point is to have more than one tool in your toolbox; sometimes you need to murder someone with extreme prejudice, sometimes you need to mitigate damage, and sometimes you'll have to choose between the two.
It's a tactical choice between using one or the other (but yes, the UI is messy about it and the game doesn't explain well that you don't have to use your sneak attack reaction all the time)

I just wanna point out that OP does not own the game on Steam. Make of that information what you will.

Attack (green) is an Action. Sneak Attack is a Bonus Action (orange) that will happen automatically if you have a bonus action available and attack with your main hand. Reactions are a different thing that I don't fully understand

Eh, I play my BG3 on GOG these days but still hang around the forums here. If this was supposed to be an inflammatory thread they're really not trying very hard 😅

Sneak attack isn't a bonus action, it uses your Reaction. If it was a bonus action you wouldn't be able to dual-wield and sneak attack, and as far as I remember you definitely are (running without a Rogue currently though)

And that's fair, I merely wanted to highlight a detail of this post (particularly since I've seen OP get ultra defensive on feedback, so my sus alarms went up) that may be of import to other users.

Now as for the actual answer, I honestly don't know why Uncanny Dodge isn't proccing in the situation described, but I also hardly ever use the damn ability in the first place, nor have I felt an impact in not using it (most of the time the ROG with the passive is far out of threat range to begin with or is specced to hell on AC/saving throw boosting gear that they rarely if ever get hit in the first place).
