Am I out of Karlachs romance already?
Soooo - i love this game. Pretty much everything about it.
But this annoys me like to the extreme.

I started a second playthrough with Wyll explicitly to have a romance with Karlach.
I flirted with her on every occation, got the dialogue that she wants me to cool her down. I tried cooling her down, but my method did not work (dont remember what i did exactly, but i threw something), so i thought: "just wait till the party , then it will work" - and played on.
Now I am at the party and everybody and their pets want to romance me.
I have the option to say to Karlach that i want to spend every moment with her and she reacts that she thinks my words are hotter than she can bare - sounds great, right?
But I *still can not cool her down* ! She also does not come to my bed during the night.
All I can do is dream about her.

I read many times, that if you did not kiss Karlach in act 1, you will not be able to do so in act2 and the romance is blocked. Am I really blocked out because i did not use water when the moment came the first time? This would be stupid as....

Additionally, if you have somehow managed to lock yourself, you can unlock yourself via the BG3SE console.

I too have found myself maidenless in my persuit of Karlach's literal and figurative hotness. Wyll offered though, so at least there's that... I shan't reveal further, for a gentleman never tells.

It seems that Karlach's romance path leaves annoyingly little margin for error. As we approach act 3, I remain perpetually suspended in the friendliest of metaphorically designated areas with her, despite adhering to the proper conduct of dialogue and sorting out her infernal engine troubles with a local mechanic.

You kill the smith, you kill the romance. Let him be killed is not different from killing him yourself, btw :)
That seems to have been the problem some people here had.

Thanks for nothing...

The question is simple eough: does the impossibility to kiss Karlah in act 1 and no sitting at the fire together during the party mean that I am locked out or not?

I know thta Dammon can "fix" her in act2 so you can touch her. But if you do not romance her, you can only hug her and nothing you do will start the romance afterwards.

I wanted to know if l am already "friendzoned" since i can not cool her down in act 1 (as many did).

if you throw water at her during act 1, you get a little scene where you try to kiss. you can only do this once though. i'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for. Just throw a bottle of water or another water source at her. An ice spell might work too, but i'm not sure.

Anything further then talking about it though needs to wait until act 2 when dammon can permanently cool her down enough to touch.

Unrelated, i am also playing as wyll and romancing karlach. they're really cute together, i ship it.

I DID throw water at her - many times. And no, I did NOT "a little scene" that is exactly what makes my worrying that I locked myself out somehow.
All the other methods: frostarrow, letting her stand in a river etc - ALSO do not give me "a little scene"

Did you throw water outside camp or inside? I got the scene while in camp.

The game interprets any kind of friendliness as flirting, so if you want to romance Karlach avoid talking to the other companions at all. If you get the 'someone wants to talk to you' prompt then do it but be very careful to only address their question and be as neutral as possible. Do not empathize, sympathize, or console. They're only pawns on your chessboard.

I romanced Karlach, and talked "friendly" to plenty of other companions. Didn't affect her romance at all.

There is a romance guide for her at bg3.wiki, BTW, goes into all the steps for advancing it.

BTW, if you have Script Extender - I can't use it - I believe you can use it to check whether the romance with her is "on" or "off" in this game's scripts/vatiables. In case you have to "know for sure".

Thanks a lot

Generally speaking, in Act 2, it's still "on" if you can a) ask her for a kiss and b) ask her to discuss the relationship.

P.S. with Minthara, this is a LOT harder, as you can't do either.

You can't get the "hot date" until Act 3.

Can't or don't know how to? But yes, it can be used to check or even add/remove romance with anyone.
