Halsim was a fan request during EA, one which i feel extremely unnecessary.
Bracus Wroot as stated before would be an awesome character as a companion, one that could, specifically, be better if made as non romanceable or exclusive gay (for good or evil, he's into a toxic relationship with Wulbren).
Other NPC that would make valuable joinable characters are Sazza (what would even give a little motivation for Tavs side with goblins if you save one of them and they start to sell their piece of why side with goblins are a better choice). Can't believe this wasn't a trend in EA.
Yeah i would 100% drop Halsin for Bracus Wroot. Idk why Halsin is even in the party he literally abandoned the grove AND the cursed lands to come to baldurs gate because no reasons.
Bracus Wroot just randomly pops up in act 2 when he coulda just stayed @ camp and help up explore the underdark to find his people + he's relevant in act 3 with the bomb/gordians
they would have made more interesting and compelling characters than Halsin and the cameo companions Jaheira and Minsc
I would have love to see more interaction between Aylin and Shadowheart at camp, and dialogue between Sazza and Minthara would be funny I bet
So with that mod, while I haven't made her a party member, I am using her before the endgame. Everybody hates on Dame. I think she's a fine NPC. I just wish she could fly a little bit further, but solutions for that, too. She is unkillable, never drops below 1HP, that's nice.
It was baffling, the dialogue was like, "well maybe you should join us in our fight," and she's like, "YES! I will! Let's go!" and then you're like, "ok come and stay at our camp with everyone else and we'll head out," and she's like "OK!" and then you see her like 3 more times
(Ritual Spell) easily fixes their movement.
Yeah, I think it's less a case of Larian being against shorties, but them being unpopular among players. There's this weird Gnome hate with gamers that I never understood.
Okay, maybe I can understand it with WoW. WoW's gnome NPCs are mostly pretty obnoxious.
Dame Ayling is too overpowered to be companion, feel like cheating. Also, she's a godling and kinda of locked in most of her free action by the whims of Selune, but could get Isobel on party and Dame Aylin making very special participations.
The list of characters i find would made a good synergy with BG3 story as a companion:
Barcus Wroot[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
A super indepth character. Also has reasons to go to Baldur's Gate.
Rolan[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
(be it he's grateful for saving his brothers or in grieving and need to throw himself in adventure. Also has reasons to go to Baldur's Gate.
Kagha[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
Yes, lots of people hate her. But she's just extremist, flawed and a bit of a naive druid. Perfect for adventuring, which is the processo of growing so much in power as a character. Would make much more sense Halsim to banish Kagha to join the Tav, to atone for her deeds, than himself abandom the grove where he's the grand druid.
Sazza [baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
Perfect to give introduction for a party that want to side with the Goblins.
Abdirak[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
This one i'm unsure, a cleric of Loviatar... should have tons of interactions opportunities during the adventure, one more deity to poke her fingers in the absolute thing. Still i have my doubts.
Oskar[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
His personal ghost problem could be an awesome way to introduce many interactions along the game. Also has reasons to go to Baldur's Gate.
Bernard[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
The most desired NPC for me to join the party. Bernard already recognized the NPC as his master in the tower (if played right) and he could bring some nice extra dialogues with Lorroakan
He who was[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
This Shader-Kai dude vengeance obsession sounds like a perfect match to the entire Absolute thing. Also, he's clearly running from returning to Raven Queen's realm and she's a collector of memories of loss and grief, which will be thematic war of the 3 act.
I also found that some companions could be locked behind the death/lose of original companions, like this:
Anders[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
For evil players, that which to kill Karlach, anders could be the perfect partner (since he must kill her or lose his soul).
Mizora[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
For players that kill or let Wyll leave, Mizora got herself screwed by the Absolute group and don't have an insider to play against them
Zevlor[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
For players that lose Lae'zel, somehow, he lost the trust of his people and may feel that joining the party is a way to redeem himself.
Isobel[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
For those that lose Shadowheart somehow.
Special Easter Egg companion:
Volo[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
Just for Act 1, maybe 2. With his Afraid but curious approach to everything, added to his absurd luck to always got unscratched from any problems, it would be a comic relief for the party.
Mayrina[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
Would be fun to have her around act 1 only, with the ability to summon her husband. Give her a special class of ranger (like without the perks of the class), a cap level of 5, her husband (using the animal companion of Beast Master subclass) and some skills to buff up her husband (like "Damn Connor, can't you do anything right?" for single target bless ability, or "I asked you to do that days ago Connor!!" for haste buff and etc...)
Alfira[baldursgate3.wiki.fextralife.com]
I don't like the idea, but many people do. Gonna respect majority desires here, also, we don't have a based class bard companion.
Y'know that'd actually be an interesting class ability. Once per long rest you can summon Dame Aylin for 10 rounds
