The book gives the permanent buff against Orin for the entire party when you open it. You don't have to actually read the "tips" and take it for granted, lol.
This is the book he gives you ... no mention of a buff from reading it.

I also don't remember it, but it could have been one of many things in this game I just failed to notice.
Advantage on saving throws against 2 slayers abilities. Party gets it without communication, it just silently appears in the character profiles after opening the book.
While the wiki page you have provided doesn't say anything about the buff, there's the entire page on the very same wiki about the buff and it source. It's not like BG3 wiki is complete and extensive.

Also, it grants bonus against all slayers, not just Orin. It's just there's the only other slayer in the game besides her.
So again, just to clarify, reading the book doesn't give you a "popup" saying you've gained this passive, it just happens - right?
Yeah, I just probably didn't notice it.
OK. Well, it has plenty of gaps to be sure. It's just this one I find odd. On the one hand, it does identify the source of the ability. But then on the other, the page on the source of the ability doesn't mention the ability. Funny. But yeah I have seen those kind of gaps before.
Correct.
I didn't noticed it at first, too.
