How do I get the owlbear cub?

So ok I kill the adult owlbear and have talk with animals perk, what do I have to do next?

He’ll go there of his own accord after that

Actually, you don't necessarily need to find it in the goblin camp. I waited until after wasting the camp, then ended up going to the owlbear cave. It seems the only part that really matters is having a positive conversation with the mother (meaning, being allowed to leave without automatically engaging in combat), then not killing the cub during the cave encounter (or allowing it to be killed). It turned up in camp a few days later, without encountering it at the goblin camp.

In the goblin camp, where the goblins are making bets on “chicken chasing”.
You talk to him there then tell the goblins you’re setting him free

Twice, but after the second appearing he sticks around, just have speak with animals up makes handling him easier

Hopefully so! Toaster Maximus and Fluffykeith were also correct. Basically, the process distills down to:

(1) enter owlbear cave near the druid's grove and do not kill the cub during that encounter (I always had "speak with animals" active, and was allowed to leave by the mother);

(2) if (1) was done prior to going to the goblin camp for the first time, you will then encounter the cub in the courtyard outside of the Temple of Selune, where it will be being used in a chicken chase game - be sure the cub does not die during this segment, either;

(3) after a few nights, the cub will come to your camp while you're sleeping. My choice at this time has always been to offer it food - it will then run away;

(4) the cub will return after a couple of nights, and you can then try to treat its injuries. Again, I always have "speak with animals" active, which seems to expedite things;

(5) after successfully treating its wound, it will stay in your camp.

never appeared in goblin camp for me even tho I did everythign "right".. it just randomly walked into my camp at some point

Just know that the owl bear cub is bugged for many players after a certain scene plays the cub will disappear from camp and never return. Sadly, this has happened to me.

After basically completely clearing the Goblin camp I stumbled into a cave with an Owlbear. I back out immediately without any combat.

The cub shows up in my camp and just hangs around. lol

Just make sure you have Speak with Animals in effect when you meet the Cub again at the Goblin Camp.

You can still get the cub to come to camp without it, but the thing you need to do at a Goblin Camp (talk to the lady near the cub) is 10x easier if you are speaking with words with the cub at that precise moment.
