WHERE IS VOLO??
By letting Volo remove my eye and giving me his prosthesis, I never saw him again in my camp, I didn't do anything bad to him or anything and I'm still in act one. Does anyone know where I could find it?

I guess you have searched everywhere in camp. Just saying as the camp sometimes can be rather big.
Sorry if it's a stupid question.
Just be patient and keep playing.

Yes, I checked absolutely everything in the camp and I don't know if it had any influence, but I also saved the tieflings.

You will find him again, but will be a while.
Spoilers.

Volo reminds me of Barcus. He needs to keep being rescued over and over again.

And that's all I'll spoil for now.

Although there's no real in-game consequence (other than a weird looking eye in your visuals) for getting Volo's Ersatz Eye ,,, I won't do it, as See Invisibility is so easy to cast or get from other items (potions, etc.) Having it on all the time is unnecessary.

There is one consequence to having Volo's eye. Since having See Invisibility still breaks the game inside a certain manor house in the Lower City, if you have the eye it is impossible to get through Lady Jannath's manor without leaving that character completely outside the active area.

I mean....dude just gouged your eye out in an ill-advised surgery attempt with absolutely no training in such procedures. Why do you think he'd want to stick around? I'd assume I just pissed off the person who's demonstrated they can cut stronger people than me into kibble and GTFO while I could too.

He said he was leaving, or did you miss that?

Maybe he will show up again somewhere. He seems to be good at getting into trouble. :)
Izuzul 25. Jan. 2024 um 7:27
If you pick "Blue 3" for your eye color at start, or by using the mirror in camp you can still have 2 eyes of the same color after the "surgery."

As others have said Volo has a knack for finding trouble, keep your eyes open.
Ghost 25. Jan. 2024 um 7:31
@OP as the others have said, Volo said he as leaving. He'll turn up again later in the game, but only 1 character can get the surgery.

That is blatantly not true.

Why does it break game in that area? I do remember going through that manor in my 1st playthrough with a character that had the eye, and it was a little bit annoying and definitely looked "broken" but the reason why i thought it was broken was because in that playthrough the painter didn't survive back in act 1.

A lot of people are having crashes in Jannath's House. I'm one. People are blaming mods (as usual), but I've seen plenty of accounts of those without mods getting it.

Hence the hunt to try and figure out a cause. A lot of people say it happens when you use See Invisibility in the House. That may be ONE of the causes and there could be another. Hard to say. Many folks are saying they drink a potion of see invisibility and then the game crashes in the House literally one minute later. That said, I've also seen some folks saying they didn't use that and still got crashes. Shrug? Could be multi causal.

But I still think those crashes are not mod caused, and are the result of SOME kind of bug for the scripting for "poltergeist activity" in the house.

I should not have used a definitive, but for many players including myself, the area's extreme number of invisible entities*- combined with the parts of the level that extend to multiple floors, like the foyer or servant's staircase- can produce so many checks and calculations that the game can hard crash.

I am not the only person to experience this "problematic area." It affects some console players as well and is a known issue for several months on the Larian forums.

* The invisible ghosts and haunted candelabras, which also contain an invisible spawn trigger. The servant's staircase is three levels high with at least six ghosts and two candelabras.

Never happened to me. The multiple floors causes pathing issues, but I have never had a crash. I run two characters with See Invisibility in there.
