Larian Studios may not always hit the mark with quality, but their quantity is undeniably impressive.
Because of that, my top 10 list isn't really about well crafted characters, but more about the impressions they left on me, their coolness rated from 1 to 10.
Orpheus, the Prince of the Comet, is the embodiment of the celestial, a figure akin to Dak'kon in spirit. A lone star in an endless sky, Orpheus shines with an unparalleled coolness. A perfect 10/10 in the galaxy of cool.
Raphael, the Cambion Devil. "Am I a friend? Potentially. An adversary? Conceivably. But a saviour? That's for certain." His coolness, a formidable 9/10, only slightly dimmed as he fell, immobilized by a simple laughter spell, to Alias' might.
Enver Gortash, once the Chosen of Bane, a master of Strife and Tyranny. Though he lacks the renown and power of the ancient Chosen, his essence is undeniably Banite. A solid 8/10, his coolness wanes only because of his eventual downfall, now tormented eternally by Bane's unforgiving grasp.
Ansur, the undead dragon, a once noble Bronze Dragon, met a tragic fate. His valiant attempt to slay his illithid master Balduran ended in his own death, but even in the afterlife, his vengeance burns bright. Coolness factor: a fiery 7/10.
Alfira the Bard, with her vivacious voice and carefree spirit, is like a melody on a summer breeze. Tragically fated to be a victim, her absence leaves a haunting silence. A heartrending 6/10.
Steelclaw, the feline paragon, views the world with a regal disdain only a cat can muster. "Fluffers, they call me, pitiful Humans..." he purrs. A majestic 5/10 for this feline sovereign.
Roah Moonglow, the Zhentarim chieftain, may not rival the likes of Fzoul Chembryll, but her cunning has expanded the Black Network's shadow in Baldur's Gate by overthrowing the impostor Nine Fingers and her Ladies of This and That, helped vehemently by Alias and her band of adventurers. A lesser evil than the aforementioned Keene, but cool by association, she earns a 4/10.
"Auntie" Ethel, the Green Hag, a character woven from the very fabric of folklore. Twice slain, yet undeterred, she's a walking, cackling embodiment of myth. A solid 3/10 for this enchantress of old. The final Cesarian performed by Alias.
Kagha the Strict, Archdruid of the Emerald Glove, led astray by the Shadow druids. Her fall from grace is as poignant as it is profound. A coolness factor of 2/10, her story echoes with the whispers of the forest.
Lastly, an unnamed deva, an angelic being, fiercely guarding the Tabernacle's offerings. Its celestial wrath upon curse removal earns it a spot on tihs list. A divine 1/10 for this heavenly avenger.
Ameowzing list!
I remembered the goblin Sazza who can't be cucked, damn you developers who don't allow goblins to be cucked
1. Scratch
2. All other talking animals in the game.
3. Alfira
4. Barcus Wroot
5. Ketheric Thorm
6. Arabella
7. Rolan and his siblings
8. Elminster
9. Kith'rak Voss
10. Komira
Note: I am yet to finish the game and yet to "pay a visit to Hope and her... uninvited guest..."
I don't know if you had to spoil tag his NAME - well, I guess. But I'm going to spoiler tag my response.
Freeing him is the only real "good" choice you can make at the end of this game. Emperor is a self-serving manipulator. Whatever misgivings I have about the Gith, Orpheus is going to try and free them from that monstrous soul-eating vampire Vlaakith, and this is also why I usually don't want to make him a mindflayer, as then he wants to die, and even if he won't choose to die, abandons leading the resistance.
If she didn't insist on turning the lights off, she would rocket to #1 on my list. LOL.
She's a fan favorite, many folks want her as a companion, many wish she was romanceable, shame Dark Urge has to kill her and usually will without some kind of exploit and I'd add myself to that list. There is a mod to recruit her - as a Hireling,
1. Raphael
2. Emperor
3. Kethric Thorm
4. Dammon
5. Auntie Ethel
6. Omeluum + Blurg
7. He Who Was
8. Lucretious
9. Lakrissa (yes, I prefer her girlfriend over Alfira)
10. Counselor Florrick
2. That's it
Dunno about the rest.
EDIT: Thanks for the support (award). I'll be sure to sing DAME AYLIN's praises more often. <3
Oliver, I actually like him (way better than Thaniel. Thaniel just a spooky lil kid. Oliver seems more like a kid.)
He Who Was
Korilla
Volo (after a point he does become annoying, not sure he counts though as he does become part of your camp)
Yenna (Same as Volo above dunno if she counts, and after a while becomes annoying also)
Tara
Barcus
Lump The Enlightened
Raphael
Auntie Ethel
And Mol (She grows on ya! lol)
2. Basket
3. Fork
