TOO MANY containers to loot.
In before the screeching ree-kids say "THEN JUST DON'T"

I LOVE this game but man I am getting sick of feeling like I need to loot 4012939182454 crates everywhere I go. This seriously breaks up the flow of the game and causes massive levels of inventory tedium. Inventory tedium in a game with a sub-par inventory system/UI. I think this is a very poor game design decision.

It's VERY HARD not to want to check every container because often you can find stuff in a random bookshelf/crate that is better than most of the "hidden" chests you can dig up around the game world. Seriously in one exhumed chest my friend and I got like 12g and a jade or something. In a random bookshelf I found 2 blue scrolls and a green, easily worth hundreds of G...

Not to mention you need a good stockpile of camp supplies (it costs 80 supplies to rest on my tactician game) and that next crate might just give you more....

SO lets be constructive here, how can we fix this?

Let's just say you enter an area, almost any area really. Instead of literally every crate and jar being lootable, make them unlootable props. So you can't even click on them and open a loot screen, and they dont pop up on the controller's area loot screen.

So instead of the tedium of checking every. single. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. jar. crate. chest. skeleton. ribcage. etc. ONLY make the ones with actual loot, lootable.

If you're part of the "Just don't loot everything bro" camp, you're wrong. If players can get an edge by looting/checking everything, they will feel compelled to do so, and not doing so leads to negative mental state and a sort of "itch" that wants scratched. So it's the onus of the designers and developers of the game to keep that from being a part of their game. I've spent more time looting random ♥♥♥♥ in this game than combat... please fix.

Wait nevermind, I've had a change of heart, I cannot wait to open another chest with nothing in it, or one with a bottle and rope!! man I need more bottles and more rope in my life, yeh.... drown my sorrows in the bottle and finish the job with the rope after looting 2030120391028541072038 containers in bg3.

There are too many, but.... back in the days of Ultima, there was no LOOTING and no CRAFTING.

There was just a world built, and objects placed appropriately. Some of them you could combine in logical ways. Not every container contained anything useful, as that's the world. Then somebody went and turned both into bonafide features given a name, like cheap coin slot machines to keep players glued and occupied. And that's the general expectation now.

Better days back then.
I agree, and will say all modern CRPGs have crazy loot issues. Interestingly, two games that I have been playing, Cyberpunk 2077 and Grim Dawn, had major updates where they reduced the amount of trash loot which is great, I hope game devs catch on that the best thing is to drop money and worthwhile gear, and have shops to buy from.

I admit it also annoys me how there's rooms with 500 vases and only five of them have any items at all in them.

If it helps any, holding ALT will highlight most containers that actually have noteworthy loot. Also highlights random objects in view that sell for a bit more than 1 GP.

Amen! It drives me nuts because even when you try to be intuitive you get burned.

There are so many uniquely named loot containers in this world and so so MANY of them are EMPTY. Why make a unique lootable container, place it in the woods in only one or two places, and then have all instances of this container EMPTY!?

It does make it so you literally have to check every mundane looking box because there is no rhyme or reason. It isn't a massive world when you just plop a thousand empty barrels into it.

considering the only thing of value comes from chest that will appear with the highlight button, you really shouldn't feel the need to loot anything else unless you enjoy looting.

do you really need more potions that you can get infinite of, or scrolls you'll hardly ever use, or books to read?

99% of non-gear vender fodder should just be replaced by gold

Ok, I think this will actually be the first mod I install, lol. It's easily my most massive time sink without much fun attached to it. Especially when you're using controller aura and walking in random order to each box.

BG3 is great, and the detail is great too, I wouldn't really like it without the loot, but the interface is very tedious in some areas.

-controllers on PC don't even seem to be able to pick up stacked gold piles often what..I have to stop and flip back to MKB
-I don't like the randomness of the radial dials, even if you take hours to customize them they'll get randomly swapped under you
-can't combine things easily like gold stacks in the controller ui, it should just recombine on 'type' sort or something at least

To each his own. I personally loot everything that isn't nailed down, especially in Act 1. This includes all the random pot lids, cutlery and plates, candles, rotten food, chopping boards etc. It's a habit I carried over from the Original Sin games.

Even the trashiest junk sells for 1 gold, and that stuff can really build up fast. Without even having to steal I expect to leave Act 1 with close to 20k, even after buying up certain potions and ingredients.

I wouldn't mind a list of things in the things I've just aoe investigated, rather than adding the extra step of opening each one individually, but I mostly a->y->down through the whole list as long as nothing's red

Larian need to take this 'feature' out of their games.

False, in Act 1 alone you have a skeleton by the river near Karlach that does not appear with the highlight button, and another skeleton in the under dark above the ladder to the fish people that doesn't appear with the high light button.

Both skeletons have pretty awesome magical items on them, one raising your sleight of hand score and the other adding your proficiency bonus to Wisdom.

But a vast majority of skeletons you find will simply have bones on them.
