Oh you gotta be kidding.
I was lolth sworn too so I had darkness always ready...BRUH.
Hunger of Hadar could be even better do right?
I am trying to think who I had in my party. I was a Vengeance paladin, I think I had Astarion, Storm Cleric Shadowheart and Gale. The summons took a lot of the heat off me by Ketheric targeting them instead of me. I did have Darkness ready in case things went wrong but I didn't use it in the end. I had Gale deal with the necromites. I was a bit nervous about doing this fight, but thankfully it worked out more or less the way I had planned. The only one who took a severe beating was Astarion.
In order to beat Myrkul on Honor mode one needs:
1. Warlock - start with casting hunger of Hadar immediately after Ketheric is dead and also spam eldritch blast on acolytes (preferably with potion of speed)
2. Mage with AoE spells, magic missiles and potion of speed - spam magic missiles and fireball on Myrkul, help others to deal with acolytes with other aoe spells.
3. Paladin with all spell slots to spam radiant smites on Myrkul by coming to the edge of Hadar, attacking and then retreating.
4. Cleric - heal, mass heal, spirit guardians on acolytes, bolt of radiance on Myrkul.
No fighters or archers needed in this fight.
Make sure to grab scrolls of misty step or teleportation to quickly save Nightsong with cleric.
Just make sure to clobber mind flayer before he controls Aylin.
aylin did a solid amount of damage for me, since he was busy attacking and doing nothing to my party. :D
your party comp is good, that's not the issue. although I would take more beef instead of astarion (take one of the druids or karlach) and I wouldn't go with pala but with wizard to actually have some solid damage
Everyone this person keeps reviving old threads.
Please report this person and the thread (which isn't as old as other examples) and move on.
Instead of the oathbreaker our party had a circle of moon Druid.
The Druid tanked with warding bond while the cleric kept getting the boss reaction. Rogue and bm on boss and adds.
Cleric spells were enough but even with less, because how broken are healing potions, it would have been easy no matter what.
I suggest you to properly build your cleric and frontline, keeping one dedicated character on adds preventing myrkul from healing ( if you can’t manage swaps ).
Not a hard fight, and you can tweak your characters if you think their builds are not optimal ( never had any issues though, but I know this might help ).
Kill all the ads before defeating Omniman - it's much more manageable at that point, especially since all he does is stand on the platform shouting at you until you engage in melee.
As for Myrkul itself, he's a tanky cookie! Disarm effects are hilarious since it means he can't do his big scythe attack. Having a Paladin is also a big help, since busting out all their Divine Smites will chunk him pretty effectively.
He is also a skeleton, so if you're going to melee him make sure you use blunt weapons like hammers/maces.
