honour mode. what a silly name for masochist game mode
i find achievements a waste of time unless it comes with a game benefit (similar to borderlands games).
The chaotic neutral dumb barbarian Is more Aylin that Is always "waaagh me smash!" while Karlach speak as a scientist.
Every time I want to like Karlach, she starts with "Hey Soldier!" or "Hup hup! Let's go!" and I just say to myself, "Oh yeah, this is why I hate having Karlach in the party." She has a few good moments, but mostly she's like a caricature. Or almost a self-parody.
Well the cross a teenage girl with a hardened veteran non-com fits her tbh.
She did get screwed and traded off to war slavery in hells in her teen years. She never really got to enjoy adolescence or life as a young woman as it is. (I may be overthinking this lol)
So it does make sense (for me at least) that she's a bit hyperactive when she finally breaks free of Zariel's yoke (even for a moment) and gets to experience stuff she never thought she would ever see again.
YMMV, and probably does.
I remember after killing Gortash she was super upset and I tried to calm her down, and the next day she's like "We're best friends." Like I was DEEP in the friend zone.
It is most likely because, and I say this from experience, that most men do not want a dominating woman whom exudes power.
Why? Reasons:
1) It makes Alpha Men feel inferior. Why?
Because, psychologically speaking:
The typical male has an unerring urge to 'protect' something they 'perceive' as weaker than them (Not that this is necessarily or actually true). If that particular quotient is not present, their natural protective instincts are waned and then summarily their instincts go three ways.
1) They rebel against said resistance.
Meaning rebel against said strong-willed woman in a battle for psychological dominance through various methods, most unethical to gain the 'upper-hand' because they still perceive them as 'weak'.
2) They submit to said resistance as being the more authoritative, and eventually it becomes a normalization.
No need to expand on this.
3) They find mutual ground in both authoritative parts doing exactly as both parties want exclusively, without restrictions or exceptions. Admittedly, the last one is the hardest for couples to achieve, as it is the best outcome but not always one either or both partners can achieve. Why? Because of various emotional reasons, but it typically comes down to people finally shedding off their need to dominate the other and finally work together as a cohesive unit. The harmony is Golden, but it is, as I said, rarely achieved due to natural instinct issues.
I don't find her spiky scarred demon physique particularly attractive, nor the muscle girl thing.
Her writing is just... Weird. Way too much pop-culture ♥♥♥♥♥♥ millennial writing thrown in. But then she's also supposed to have spent a decade in the Hells fighting the entire time. Feels entirely disconnected and jarring.
She's doomed.
She's an incessant do-gooder.
Her quest just isn't great compared to like... Astarion or Lae'zel.
A shame that both melee tank origin characters are so obnoxious. So if you're staying true to the characters, Minthara is the only other option. But that involves being extra evil.
For me, her biggest turnoff is that her personality isn't the most attractive. She's kinda ditsy at times and a bit "frat boyish," if that makes sense? Oddly enough, I found her most attractive when she was lamenting about her plight. When she goes happy-go-lucky I kinda get turned off.
But as others have said, many probably don't have as strong a bond with her because you recruit her so late into the first act. By that time you probably already have a pretty healthy roster. That's how it was for me anyways. I had to build an entire playthrough around getting and romancing her. And it was a blast. I made her an unarmed strength beefcake tossing people around like hotcakes lol.
Now if only we could romance Jaheira...
