[bug] Can't deliver Nere's head to the king.
Self explanatory title.

I killed Nere before the king asked me to bring his head.
I came back to the forge, cut off his head properly, then came back to the king but... nothing.
No cutscene, no dialogue, he doesn't say anything and I can't give him the head.

What am I supposed to do ? This should be a simple matter.

There's a specific dialogue option for the head. The quest is active in your journal? Did you interact with Nere's body (it's no use bring the entire body, there's a cutscene where you make a str check when you interact with the body, to cut his head).

It is a simple matter. Don't do quest targets out of sequence. Sometimes it will work. Sometimes it won't work. Killing Nere in advance probably negated any need for the King to even ask you to do anything. Simple.

Do you have mods ?
Since the last hotfix, when i grab a needed quest item, the game doesn't recognize it, as if i don't have it. (Sacred idol and bitter divorce for example). When i disable mods, it works properly. Strange

I have been having this exact issue. Anyone know a fix?

There have now been many reports of the game not recognizing quest items in inventory. Likely due to the change made to allow quest items to be accessed from the Travelers Chest while in the field.

Probably going to have to wait for a Hotfix on this one. :(

It should as this is not a data issue but a code issue. That is my guess on it.

Redid the whole quest step by step and I still cannot give the head to the king.
So it must be the mods, but I can't deactivate them. It makes my game crash.

I'll try deactivating Mod Fixer only.

I also have that problem, I have it with Ethel's wand, the Miconid colony ring and now with Nere's head, I am afraid to deactivate the mods since it is my honor mode save

I'm not sure this is a code issue or glitch.
Your character a random person, not tasked by the king, showing up out of the blue with the head of someone he wants dead. Good on ya!
Reward? What, did our royal highness offer you a reward?
Why would they? You voluntarily did that yourself.

So a code issue, but likely a deliberate code issue

Yeah it's a mod that's causing this bug, also it seems that you can't give Gale a second artifact to absorb if you got mods enabled... this happened to me when I got around fighting the Hag, rip mods I guess.

I can confirm that it's mod related.

Had the same problem with Nere's head quest.

I'm using the party limit mod (manual install where you just copy/paste the /mod folder, not using mod fixer), so I dismissed everyone to camp, then removed the mod and I was able to complete the quest.

I then went to Nexus where I got the mod, and lo and behold, the mod creator has released a new version for hotfix 16.

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/327?tab=files

I installed the new version and reloaded the game at the point before I dismissed everyone, and I could now complete the quest WITH the mod active.

My suggestion is to check any mods you're using for new versions after hotfix 16, and disable any others for the time being.

Good luck
