How to enter Raphael's house when I didn't take the deal?

After refusing Raphael's deal, Gale said we could find a diabolist. I just met Dammon who mentioned a diabolist, and I'm now talking to Helsik, but all I can do is look at her wares??? I can't seem to ask or say anything about getting the hammer and all that :(

I just tried doing that and it unlocked more of her wares, but that's about it.

If there is no dialogue option to get the info you need, pickpocket it off of her.

I just pick-pocketed the bag and the book off her, and then went upstairs and did the pentagram puzzle to open the portal. I knew I was going to keep those gauntlets regardless, and didn't want to argue with her about it later. I think everything you need, except possibly the book, is upstairs in chests & containers anyway though. Great fight in the House of Hope, by the way. Go in with a strategy, and the fight won't be unwinable. But having finished the game a couple nights ago, I can say it's very close to the final battle in terms of difficulty.

You are right that everything needed is upstairs. You don't need anything from Helsik and if you do it yourself you won't owe her anything.
