Can't find Minsc

I followed Minsc into the sewer, was ambushed by a few people saying smth like: "The stone lord has sent us someone to entertain us." or something like that. Now I have defeated them, but can't find Minsc where he's supposed to be? I looked it up and it says he should be where the sluice gate in the abandorned cistern is, but the gate is locked and can't be lockpicked. I was apparantly also supposed to overheard a conversation, but... I didn't overhear anything. I haven't heard or seen Mincs since he left the vaults.

If Minsc has been met at the Counting House, he is behind that gate. There is a valve on the balcony above with 25 Athletics check. Would suggest to save, buff, and then try to use it.

Minsc is in the Abandoned Cistern part of the sewers. Coordinates X: -251, Y: 874, in the Northwest area. I want to say the closest above ground access point is the manhole at Basilisk Gate, or you could use the Undercity Ruins waypoint, if you have it activated. It's south of that. I don't think I could find an entrance from the Counting House and just went that way. Figured even if I had to ramble a bit, it was a good opportunity to explore the sewers a bit and expand my map, possibly grab a waypoint or two.

If you're at the sluice gate you have to climb up to the platform and do the valve pressure puzzle to open the door to the area he's in. I would just google that. Lots of walkthroughs out there on how to find it, etc.
