Honour Mode Save Disappeared

I just started the game and wanted to continue my Honour mode Run.
But before loading the save game i got into the settings and turned down the max. quick safe states to save some space.
But when i left the settings and wanted to load my save it just wasnt there.
(When closing Honour mode the game saves itself so i think it was a normal save game)

So did i just accidentaly delete my Save game? Is there a way to get back my Save?

You probably dont need it anymore but here for everyone that has the same problem:

First:
Press Windows key + r
Type in (or Copy): %localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story

(Cntrl + f) Search for: "Honour" and you should see a Screenshot Called "Honourmode" and a save (or smth) called Honourmode.lsv

If you cant find these ur save is probably gone.
U could try 2 get it back through the Steam cloud but i dunno how to do that.

If u have these make a backup file.
Then start the game and start a new Honour mode run.
Then as soon as ur able to move save and close the game.

Then turn off the Steam cloud, open: %localappdata%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public\Savegames\Story again and search for "Honour" once again.
Then find the new save folder and copy the OLD HonourMode.lsv and the old Screenshot into the new folder.

Then turn the steam cloud back on and start the game

After that you should see ur save again.
If not then im not able to help u.

Sadly it didn't work for me.
The save game I'm trying to restore is 19Mb while a new save game is about 9Mb.

Upon the step "Then turn the steam cloud back on and start the game"; my legacy save file (19Mb) is currently loaded in the folder.

Then I launch the game, but I'm watching in paralell what's happening in the story folder: well the 19Mb file is automatically replaced by the 9Mb file upon launch.

And obviously, if I click on "continue", the new game is loading.

Did I do something wrong?

Is there a valid way to force the legacy save file onto Steam Cloud?

My save is also gone. In the game near the end of act I my pc crashed (when meeting the giths). the savegame is still there as a folder with the name `{UUID}__HonourMode`, but the game doesnt find the file anymore. tried all of the above :(

I dont think that you did anything wrong but i cant help you with things connected to the steam cloud either.
I do think that someone else posted a solution to something like that but im not entirely sure.

Is the honourmode.lsv file still there?
If not you need to try to get it back through the steam cloud. If its not possible 2 get it through the steam cloud either ur save game is gone.
But ur save could also just appear again since something similliar happend to me.
(I also had this Problem at the gith hideout or how you would call it.)

I found a solution. Renaming the folder X:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Larian Studios to whatever the game will create a new one. Luckily, I got my save in the cloud so it will then create a new folder on startup and sync the saves. Alternatively, one could also just copy the file from the old folder there - should also work.

Thanks. I tried that solution but it didn't work for me.
I used to have my save file in Steam cloud, but after messing around applying all the solutions listed above, the cloud saves were cleaned up and I eventually deactivated it.
So I only have a local backup of my save file now.

After changing the folder name as you indicated, the game created it again, and I copied my backup file under \Story but... still not working, the "load game" button is still grayed out.

Soooo frustrating. I love the game so much but yet can't start a new game again - I did act 1 three times already ;-\

The way it fixed for me was deleting all the saves in the "Story" folder (I backed it up before), started the game to check if it was empty and then quitting the game and turning the steam sync on to run the game the second time to download all save files, this included the newborn Honour mode (created to test this post solution) and the 34h one (that's been lost) without corruption.

what I also did was a complete uninstall and re-install of the game (involves a complete new download which is annoying)

Larian suport also responded to my request:

Please try the following steps​:

First, delete the modsettings.lsx file. An easy way to access it is to copy the line below into the location bar in Explorer and hit Enter.

%LocalAppData%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public

If you cannot find or access the folder you can do a search on your PC with the following term "modsettings".

Then verify local files: in the Steam library, right click on the game and select Properties, switch to the Local Files tab and then click on the 'Verify Integrity of Game Files...' button. If you are using the GOG version, in the Galaxy client, select the game, then the settings icon at the top right, beside the Play button and under Manage Installation, select 'Verify / Repair'.

I tried ; various saves including the one I want are put back into the Story folder, but it still doesn't show up under the "load game" menue :-((

I'm toward the end of Act 2 (many many hours)
I copied the file folder to my desktop
I tried the following:

1. changing graphics, turning off performance
2. turned on airplane mode (disconnected from internet)
3. turned of steam synch
4. after none of that worked, turned everything back on
5. started new honour mode game, tried to load after coming out of pod
6. started new honour mode game, exited game, copied the save file I want to load into new save folder for new honour mode game

None of this worked. Super frustrating. I just hope that the copied folder/file for the game I'm trying to load didn't get corrupted by all these processes.

Does anybody have a work around that worked given these circumstances? Is it likely if I hang on to the folder/file that a fix will allow me to reload this save? Ugh...was having so much fun with this play through on the edge of my seat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
