Scratch is gone and I have no idea why

So I'm some way into my Durge playthrough and I suddenly noticed that scratch is just gone. The owlbear cub says that he is in mourning over him, but when did he die or leave?

I never hit him or chased him away. I'm so confused.

I loaded my game back by like 6 hours and he was still there, so I have no idea what happend. Can someone please help me.

I do not want to backtrack so far, but I do not wish for Scratch to be gone or dead. What happend?

I have no idea how to fix it, but wanted to say how sorry I am it happened. Scratch is the best thing.

I've been hopping through saves until I found those where he is and then disappears, but apparently he disappeared during my long rest after I killed Nere.

There doesn't seem to be a trigger for it, but I will test a couple of things.

Still annoying to have to replay a couple of hours but whatever, could be worse. All for scratch
