If you play alone, stealthy gameplay is optimal
There are enough immediate Companions for all 4 of those roles with little or no Combat to get them. Whichever role YOU choose to fill, that Companion should be sent to camp.
For an easy time learning the game, play on Explorer mode. You can always switch up to a higher difficulty at any time.
You can play Solo, or with a party of one, two, or three Companions. But any party of less than four characters total and/or not balanced well will make thing much more difficult.
Above all, have fun! :)
Just note that adding more party members and or monsters will tax your system more. So if you already have issues with graphics it is probably not a good idea.
That said I am running a party of five, with extra combat spawns with extra abilities. It does make for a longer fight but with turn based I am running three monitors and streaming video, and surfing the net on the other two monitors at the same time.
