Not that I know of. But there is a mod which serves that.
You reckon the mod behaves naturally as a built in feature would? I've my doubts it'll break immersion even more.
There really is not much to the "AI". It is a copy & paste of the standard NPC behaviour. I doubt a natively inbuilt feature would work any different.
I also found it to be slow and distracting in BG3 to control everyone as well.
It might make combat more difficult since it would limit your ability to synergize abilities via active strategy. Meaning you'd have to respond to your companions actions instead of them utilizing yours, which would make strategizing more passive.
If that sounds like you're alright with it then I'd grab the mod. Just understand the risk modding comes with. The user アンジェル here has guides for all that modding ♥♥♥♥ and I'm sure they'll post links for them if you ask.
EDIT: Additionally, you can just run the game with all the companions at camp and solo the fights if you're good enough. That way they only discuss things with you instead of being part of the action. Probably not what you're looking for though.
EDIT EDIT: I'm not sure if the mod would stop the micromanaging though of inventories. You would probably still have to pick and choose their weapons/armor and what they keep in their inventory as far as usable items go. Potions, arrows, coatings, etc.
If they were AI controlled, you'd just have... less turns where you actually get to play.
I play actual DnD and in actual DnD... I don't control the whole party. The chaos that happens from that is what makes the game fun. I don't want to roleplay the whole damn party. I want to roleplay MY character.
At least make it a toggle so that people who want to micromanage the party can.... but I want to play the game like you play actual DnD, having to plan your actions around the actions of others that you have zero control over.
If you really want to play it like "real" D&D, you can invite friends to play with you and control the other characters.
Then don't play the game, simple as. Not every game is meant for every person.
