Crashes at poltergeist battle
Is it just me? 100% reproducible. During the fight against several poltergeists on the multi-floors place, choosing a magic with large blast radius crashes the game. Battle in the smaller room was fine.

A bit more info. It looks like the crash happens when the magic caster is Jaheira. Others were fine. What's special about Jaheira..? dual-wielding weapons?

Huh, that is oddly specific. Might be best to submit a bug report, though it probably won't be super high priority like the shoplifting exploit.

Same, I'm crashing on the poltergeist battle as well. Only it's multiple characters crashing for me, looks like it happens when a poltergeist goes to a different level?

Same issue, happens when I enter the door with the stairway to the 3rd floor. It seems to crash when the poltergeist in the corner near the cursed skull tries to attack. It happens 100% of the time and I cannot pass this spot.

I'm having almost the exact same bug. I thought it might have been the constant rerolling of my characters' see invisibility buff, but I tried to do the mission without it and Im still having the same issue. Literally stuck to a stand-still inside the estate. Have tried clearing caches, uninstalling/reinstalling, older versions, even turning my video settings all the way down and trying to boost performance. Nothing. NGL, it's really frustrating to hit a wall this late in the game.

I read about that on reddit cause I have the same issue. People saying it's cause of cursed candelabras and candles. You need to remove see invisibility and then destroy them all before initiate a fight. For me it's already too late. I'm on honor mode and cannot seems to unengage the fight even without see invisibility. And I cannot reload the mansion to earlier saves.

This happened to me today and I found the Reddit thread. I destroyed all the candelabras (haunted and normal) and candles and every poltergeist I found throughout the house, including in the room next to the bedroom, before going into the bedroom, then destroyed the candelabras in there first thing in combat, and it worked, even while using "see invisibility."

Damn. I should have listened to the butler. This bug is sucky.

There's definitely crashes going on in the Jannath House, it apparently doesn't necessarily require see invisibility to trigger - tho it seems to OFTEN do so - I can definitely see it isn't being caused by Jaheira.... cuz she is never with me in the house.

It's intermittent. I HAVE been able to finish Free the Artist. But WHEN it happens, it's always as poltergeists are bombarding me with psychic force. Thing is, they're hitting me so hard, it not only wrecks me, but seems to take down and crash the game itself.

The House of Bugs. I just tried entering through the upstairs balcony and starting that mission. It made the hidden attic door be red (off limits) . I ignored that thinking nobody could see me, but flaming fists somehow could see me 4 floors down out on the street and came in and tried to arrest me for opening the attic door.

Same! I'm getting constant crashes fighting the poltergeists. It happened later, first time, but seems to happen a bit after using See Invisible potion. Idk if that has anything to do with it, but I can't get past this.

Jannath Estate is notorious for its bugs and gameplay issues, largely revolving around See Invisibility and the stupid f*cking candles.

What's likely happening is some kind of object overflow with the Poltergeists (the estate randomly becomes far less f*ckywucky when the quest is done, so assuming it's something to do with the mobs) and a scripting error with the candles that make them constantly re-apply Burning to themselves, causing the game to slow down dramatically, generate input lag from hell, and potentially cause a CTD.

Best thing to do is submit a bug report, talk about this specifically on the Larian forums, and provide exact details of what's going on in your feedback so the devs can better understand what the issue is.

I found a workaround!! Just don't use "See Invisible". Instead, use Turn Undead, Create Water, or anything with an area effect like this to find the poltergeists (Faerie Fire might work great too but didn't have a chance to try). And don't "Examine" the poltergeist (not 100% sure, but whenever I did that seemed like the models were all funky textured). So if you don't feel like waiting for an update to get through this, this is what helped me!

I've been having this bug since the Patch 5 (not 6!). My suggestion is that the guilty one here is not the 'See Invis' spell, but the huge amount of different small and tiny objects that should act but randomly (lighting candles, falling vases, breaking pieces of furniture, etc.) They just overload the memory, and game crashes. I managed to walk through the mansion a couple of times already (mind you, one without See Invis) using the old and tiresome way, like 'We've got through this. OKay. Quicksave'. Honestly, I'm not going into it on Honor mode until I'm sure the bug is exterminated.
