I just can't get into this game
Despite the gameplay, because I just hate turn based fights, what shows here again since the fights are just really hard and at some point I don't know anymore where I can fight without getting my group killed,
I really don't get the lore and ♥♥♥♥.
Everyone is talking about that this location called Baldurs Gate is literally the answer for everything, while also that it sounds like it's a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when talking with your followers and going into the details.
Shadowheart is part of a "terroristic" organisation that has a base there,
Astarion was slave to a Vampire Lord there who murders people or does worse things to them on a daily basis,
Karlach felt into a trap and got force conscripted for a war in hell!
How is this place not an anachistic and lawless hellhole?
I haven't played this game in a few weeks, last thing I remember was that I'm level 4 and just saved some people from a burning mansion who know Wyll, who wants me to save some lord who also comes from Baldurs Gate, also I killed the Goblin Shaman in the Goblin hideout and I still wasn't in the swamp, in the southeast yet. Maybe I should go there first, when I try the game again maybe.

If anyone can help a bit with what my next step in the game should be, and also gives me more little bit or lore, that would be awesome since I actually think that the game is really interesting and hate that I have a hard time with it.

EDIT: ALRIGHT, NO MORE COMMENTS! I GOT SOME ANSWERS I WAS LOOKING AT!

Ok, thanks for your special opinion on the matter. It means so much to me that you took the time to let us know how you, and the only you, let us know how you feel about this game.

Without your opinion my life would feel incomplete, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Life is a chalice of bitterness.

It might be that this just isn't the game for you.

In my first 5 hours, yes since how should I know that they mean the name of an city with this...

The game tells you everything you need to know of the lore, and there is an easy mode.

Astarian is one of the best characters. It’s a shame you see him that way as his arc was excellent for a good playthrough.

Like I said, I'm not really far in yet so there might be more to this I don't know yet, also he's not my main character, I made a custom one instead. I'm happy for him though that he's not a slave anymore and can do whatever he wants

Haha, welcome to D&D :D
As to what you should do next - honestly, it sounds like you're on the right track. Explore as much as you can, don't rush into anything. There's a lot of existing lore, but don't try to get all of it at once, just google specific things if you're curious.

its ok bro, turned based game is not for everybody

Ohh, it just means you're dumb & can't strategize for ♥♥♥♥.

Baldur's Gate is the main city.. Ofc they are talking about it as almost everyone near it lives there.

Shadowheart is a dark cultist, it's up to you what you do with her.

Astarion was enslaved & mistreated. Ofc he is angry.

Karlach didn't have a choice (Lets say you're a Russian & Putin is calling all men into war; leaving the country is not an option. What do you think happens to you?).

Hellhole? You do know that you're in the countryside? And an alien enslavement ship which can travel between realms just crashed into it. Ofc all hell is going to break loose around it.

The town knows Wyll & you didn't have the brains to talk Wyll about it? The lord is his father..

It doesn't matter where you go first. All destinations lead into Baldurs Gate. It's up to you how much you explore & learn before it.

You clearly aren't interested or bright enough to piece together all the information around you & see the bigger picture.

In short, this game isn't for you. At least not yet.

Try again in 10 years after you've matured a bit.

PS. If figuring out companion builds is too much for you. Just follow a guide from the web.

In this version of Baldur's gate there don't seem to be any companions that are typical "good" guys. They all seem to have a dark side or rough back stories. Even the one's that are technically good have back stories that seem not to quite fit, like Wyll. He's all about protecting the sword coast region and being a "good" style hero, but he got his powers by making deals with devils. Yeah, the game provides an explanation, but it's still a bit of a stretch.

As for Baldur's Gate the city, it's pretty typical of any D&D city in that it's got plenty of "bad" guys for the player to deal with. They might pretend to be upstanding citizens in public, but if you look closely or start poking around you discover that their public persona is an act. Sort of like mafia types, politicians and most political activists.

As for what to do next, explore the whole Act 1 map area and deal with the things you find, then go back to your quest log and try and complete all of them you can before going into the Underdark or Mountain Pass. If you're unsure about whether you complete them without leaving the act 1 area, check the wiki for that quest.

If you know that you hate turn-based combat, I would not have recommended playing this game at all. You could have watched some videos and learned that you don't care for the story as well. Make better decisions for yourself.

Jesus wasn't technically born on the 25th.

That being said, the next step to the game is simply to just explore the areas and have fun. Get creative with your approach. Talk your way out of a fight or kill everything you see.

Interesting take, considering you misinterpreted most of the post.
