A lot of people were anticipating this game before it came out. Larian's previous title was very popular, and the Baldur's Gate games retain a lot of respect among fans of the genre. Plus Wizard of the Coat (D&D) promoted the game.
You realise the combat is completely different than DA right? If you are looking for a game like Dragon Age - BG3 is not the game you are looking for. You won't see anything more than a 10% sale in the next while. Starfield's gameplay/combat is like DA, except sci-fi.
Why would they add a significant sale at the height of their success?
Gameplay isn't that different, other than turnbased vs. realtime. The general epic RPG and persona dramatis ensemble cast is pretty much the same recipe though, I'd say that Dragon Age 1 is probably one of the closest comparisons you can make to BG3 in many ways. They're more similar than BG3 is to BG 1 & 2, even
