Stuck on dialogue

So I'm trying to get back into the game after not finishing it. But it seems when I choose a dialogue option, my character just stands there and does nothing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, and started up a new game. Example of issue: At the beginning of the game when I can talk to the nautloid brain, I try to free it. I've tried strength, dexterity, investigation options but each time my character just stands there. I can't skip, exit out of the conversation, only load back to a save. The only option that seemed to work was destroying the brain. I've had this happen on other dialogue parts as well. Like when I tried to investigate the nursery chamber that the worm thing came from, or on my last play through, I tried intimidating someone and the same thing happen. I'd love to have some feedback, I want to avoid buying the game on my playstation just to play.

Sounds like a classic mod issue.

Is there anyway I can check if I have mods installed. From my knowledge I have not installed a single mod and have been playing the game normal

The mods I have in mind are those which are normally missed by people. If you can swear thrice by heart and soul you never used mods, then it is probably something else. But what you describe is and was always a classic mod issue.

I just went through nexus mods to double check and I guess I have. Where would I go again for the files to delete the mods
