Can't confirm or deny that myself though.
Yes.
EDIT: But i have to say i already had a bad feeling about that playtrough, because when i left for Halsin and phased back into the "main map" of the temple her knocked out body disappeard
Could try that out but pushing again trough idk 20 to 40 hours of gameplay just to see if it worked is kinda meh ... if its only possible to recruit her like this they should have specify the recruitment process in the patch imo.
Did you attacked her before you engaged in a convo with her or convo -> started fight -> knock out?
You must KO her with her being temp hostile, or it doesn't work.
Lots of folks are saying it matters when you talk to Halsin, or when you take LRs afterward, these variables leave me with question marks.
Mods MIGHT be interfering with this for some people (I think I'm one).
All in all, said many times... should be less convoluted.
The Long Rest part works like this: the quest script for Halsin demands to deal with all three leaders and conclude the Emerald Grove issue. The moment you long rest with your party, the knocked out status of a character ends. Minthara will no longer count as "eliminated" in that new state. You would have to go back and deal with her again - but that kind of game mechanic does not exist where you could "kill" aka deal with one entity again and again. Hence the long rests leads to the game "cleaning up the loophole by killing her as intended by the script".
Talking to Halsin first some mentioned it is not needed. But I recommend it to ensure that his quest's triggers correctly. And of course mods will interfer with it. Remember what the modfixer e.g. is supposed to do. Recompiling the story to make mods work. The first part of that naturally can lead to script issues, in particular when it is about a loophole which is technically a bug left behind intentionally by the developers.
